@MsMini: He is 2.5 and very verbal. When I ask him he says no. I think I can try some eye drops because why not.

Thanks everyone

I just had a thread about a similar thing with my 4.5 year old, except that she was also saying her eyes hurt since she's older. Turns out it's just a reaction to dust/winter/dry air and the opthamologist recommended otc eye drops.

How old/verbal is he? Could you ask him when he is doing it if his eyes feel funny/itchy? I do a lot of hard/long blinks when I have dry eyes/when I am tired, I think it’s kind of habitual at this point in my life though. Also environmental allergies can make eyes itchy and instead of rubbing he might be blinking so I might consider trying a dose of antihistamine when I notice him doing it a lot again to see if that has an impact.

My son was blink excessively for a few weeks straight. It kind of went away on its own. Nonetheless I am still going to take him to a pediatric eye doctor. The appointment isn’t set for a few months anyway. More for peace of mind at this point.

@ronjal7 My son used to do the long hard blinking and it went away on its own, I want to say around 3/ 3.5 (he's 5 now). I used to take video after video of him doing it to show the pediatrician, but he also said it was a tick and he would outgrow it.

So for a long time now my son has either done rappid blinking or long hard blinking. It seems to come and go for a few weeks at a time. I mentioned it to the doctor about a year ago, and she stated that it was probably just a "tick" and nothing to worry about.

He has been doing it more this past week. I can't seem to correlate it to anything... anxiety, excitement, hunger, tiredness, etc.

Anyone else experience this? Did it go away on its own?
