I was the same way. I skipped the bella band and went straight for maternity pants at week 10/11. I had someone comment at 9 weeks that she didn't know I was pregnant until she saw the belly. It never went away and just kept growing. I have a short torso, so that was probably the reason.

@ameals: I am very small - 5'2 and size 2P pre-pregnancy. As of 8 weeks, I couldn't button any of my pants and none of my shirts were long enough anymore. I couldn't tell if it was bloat or bump, but none of my clothes ever fit after that - ever! I started wearing a bella band at 8 weeks. At 10 weeks I went and got a bunch of non-maternity, longer flowy shirts that lasted me until around 22 weeks.

If it's any consolation, only my family and close friends could tell I was pregnant. I thought everyone at knew! You always think *everyone* knows you are pregnant, especially if you show a little early. Turns out, only a few people at work actually suspected (and it was because of my huge boobs, not belly!)

I'm the same way. This is my first, and I had to go shopping for looser clothes by 8 weeks or so in order to continue to hide it at work. Everyone keeps commenting to me that I wont be showing for a while, but I bought maternity leggings at 12 weeks (the under the belly kind, no panel) and started using a Bella Band with some of my jeans at 11. People tell me that I'm not showing yet, but I know that I'm just getting better at dressing around it since a lot of my old clothes don't fit anymore.

Thanks for the encouragement and advice. It's tempting to think of reasons, like I'm short, I was a little overweight anyway, etc, but it seems to happens differently for all.

Funny thing, at first DH wouldn't acknowledge the change (which was annoying, like he thought I was that fat before!?! A no-win conversation for him for sure ;) But now he kind of sees it. Makes me think that though it's an enormous change to me, I may not be as huge as I think in everyone else's eyes.

My sister is the tiniest thing and she showed almost immediately. People who didn't know her were congratulating her at week 10! She hid it with billowy tops and dresses for a good while though. :)

I'm worried about this. Then again my pants are already tight and I'm not KU.

@ameals I was the same way. Don't worry! Just try to wear, if you have them, some shirts that flow out around the belly. Don't wear anything tight for now, until you're ready to tell people. And yes, the waist does start thickening at first. Some people just thicken faster than others. I had friends who were all, "Oh, I didn't "show" until 15 weeks." Oh, you can bite me. Everyone is different! lol

I did buy the belly band but never wore it, I hated how uncomfortable it was and how it rolled. I ended up wearing skirts with drawstrings and pants with the same.

@ameals: I was the same way! I gained 20lbs by 20 weeks. An additional 30 lbs by week 40. :P Yikes!
I would invest in some Bebe Bands :) I started wearing them really early on. :)

I had that problem too. My dentist asked me if I was pregnant the day before my 12 week apt, so I told him no and he felt awful because he thought he was just calling me fat. Which in reality, I'm sure it was just fat because the baby was still so tiny. Use it as an excuse to go buy some flowy shirts, that will also work when your belly grows!

It's getting so hard to hide my belly! I'm sure it's not baby yet, though I don't feel that bloaty, but I definitely wasn't prepared to show anything this early. I already had a some tummy fat, but now it's sticking out so far. I feel like it's super obvious, but I'm only 9 wks (first pregnancy) and don't want to tell anyone so early.

I was fine until last week when one day my pants were not interested in closing. In fact, I can barely push my tummy out further than it is naturally these days! All my pregnancy book said was "your waistline may be thickening" and I was so afraid I was gaining way too much weight (I think 4lbs so far)

Anyway, thank god for these boards, they made me feel so much better! I'm actually kind of excited about a tangible sign of the baby, even if it's just bloat..... I'm now all about the rubberband-through-the-buttonhole trick.
