Totally! Babies have a (duh) mind of their own! And just when you think you figure out those little buggers they go a throw a curve ball. And then they smile...

Definitely! Just when we get her reflux under control she decides she doesn't like napping anymore. Then I get her to nap and she wakes up at 4 am. It's always something!

Thanks you guys! I feel a lot better. I know that all of this is normal but it makes it easier knowing that everyone else feels the same way. :)

Ugh, yes. Especially with sleep. You think you're in a great rhythm, then BAM. Something comes along and wipes the smug grin right off your face!

Yup, it's always something new. I was just thinking how great it is that my daughter is such a mellow toddler, and then all the sudden in the last three days she became a tantrum throwing diva. Pretty much every time you learn how to manage one of your child's issues, they outgrow it and start up with a new one!

I'm just hoping the second one will be easier since I'll have the knowledge gained from the first one. But it will be a new child with a new personality, so who knows?

Wow! No more fussy baby? Hooray!

I always feel like I can go from a high to a low really quickly with parenting. But I've also realized that a lot of it has to do with my own attitude. As I start to think that something is bad, I will catch myself, and think -- is this really THAT BAD?? The answer is generally no and that will help turn my mood around.

Now that my LO is older, all I am asking is for her to be healthy and I worry a lot less about stuff that used to stress me out a lot in the first year.

I would venture to say we all feel that way sometimes. Just as soon as you figure one thing out something else comes along to give you another challenge. As everyone says, there is no manual for parenting. We all just do our best and have to find satisfaction in that.

LO was extremely colicky and fussy and just like all the books said, her colic stopped practically overnight two weeks ago. Now, she's (from what I can tell) a normal, happy, thriving baby. Breastfeeding is going amazingly well, she's sleeping a lot better, she's learning to play independently, and everything seems to be going well.

But, in all the things I just mentioned, the second I stop to pat myself on the back about how great something is going, it stops completely and something goes awry.

Parenting is such an emotional rollercoaster that sometimes I go from a crazy high to a plummeting low in such a short period of time that I think I'm going to lose my mind. It's exhausting!

Anyone else in the same boat? Please say yes.
