Their secretary sucks & has neglected to return my calls. They will be getting another one tomorrow. Hopefully by requesting to talk to the owner I'll get a returned call. They jacked up our floor boards too so that needs to be addressed as well.

Yuck!! I am so sorry :( I hope it goes away soon. For anyone else reading this/thinking of refinishing (I know it won't help you), we got a VOC free finish, I think it was called Loba, so it smelled a little but was gone within 24 hours.

Ohh I could have written this post... You won't be moving back for sometime I'm afraid.. Lay trays of activated carbon pellets and get someone to moisten them frequently. Turn all the heating on really high to help cure the floors then air overnight. Do this everyday. Seriously, it's going to take some time. Floor varnishes are super high VOC, not to be messed with when pregnant..

Did you guys get duct cleaning? I would definitely do it after any sort of renovation.

We got our stairs refinished (and new floors elsewhere) and the smell was there for a good week or so after they were done. When we got home 2.5 weeks later, there was a faint smell.

We had our 113 year old hard wood floors professionally refinished last Thursday & our house still smells! The floor guys said we could move back in that Saturday so we had our movers come move everything back on Saturday. My doctor (thankfully I called him) said I can't go back in as long as I can smell it.

We had the windows open 24hrs a day for 6 days & thought the smell was pretty much gone. We closed things up & turned on the heat. I went back to check on things after work & the smell is worse now that everything is closed up!

We have been living at my moms for two weeks now & I'm ready to be home! Has anyone else been through this? What was your experience or what do you know about it? The hash chemical smell is gone but you can still smell that the floors were done & I don't know what to do!?
