I've had 2 scary experiences and both times I threatened to call the police - both times were with middle aged men in pick up trucks. Once when I was driving alone so I drove to my closest friends house bc he was tailgating and beeping and acting like an AHole. He said I pulled out in front of him but he was no where near, I think he was a drunk crazy person. The next time I was on my bike with a friend (he didn't like that we were riding next to each other) and again I'm not sure if he was drunk or crazy but he just pulled over and started ranting. There were several people threatening to call the cops with that one since we were in a neighborhood.

I never was personally, but a few years ago I was in the car with my dad. He made a right at a corner where he didn't have a stop sign, but the other driver did.

Apparently, the other guy felt my dad should have stopped anyway, despite no sign, and let him go first. At the next stop sign, he swerved around us (going to the wrong side of the road in the process) and blocked our minivan with his car by stopping perpendicular to the road.

He actually jumped out of the car screaming at my dad that he is the "daredevil of (our town)" and how dare my dad cut him off and basically cursing and yelling and flipping out in the middle of a normally quiet residential street!

It was super scary at the time, but now every time my dad has to turn at that corner we all joke about him being a "daredevil".

Yes, about 1/4 mile from my house. I'm pretty sure I was going the speed limit. I saw a woman with two kids by the side of the road. The one boy tried to cross in front of me and the woman took his hand and held him back. I slowed way down as I approached them. The woman screamed at me that I needed to STOP!!!!! There was no crosswalk, so I don't see why I needed to. I normally would have, but I was late to the funeral for my friend's little girl :crying: . Made a bad day worse.

I was pulling into the driveway of our CSA to pick up food when a lady on the right side of the driveway was watching her daughters on the left side of the driveway. I slowed down but kept going because the girls were stopped a good distance from the driveway. Then, their mother WAVED TO THEM TO COME TO HER, and then when they darted across the driveway, she looked at me and screamed with this indignant tone, "STOP!" as if it was obvious that she was going to signal her daughters to run across the driveway in front of a moving car.

The following week, a car was trying to park backwards, but it looked like she was getting out of the way of our car, so we just continued on slowly down the narrow driveway trying to get past her when a passerby yelled "STOOP!" in the same indignant way. Something about these CSA ladies!!!!!!

Yes, I have been yelled and I have also yelled (AKA provided verbal feedback to a fellow driver). It's pretty normal here. Last week a taxi stopped in the middle of a two-lane street to drop off a fare. So I rolled down my window and asked him why he didn't just pull over. Not malicious and I didn't drop any bad words.

@mrs. wagon: I live on a one way street with a school on my block and another one down the street from ours. It causes MAJOR traffic jams to get out of my street and trying to make a turn on the intersection is a nightmare for many of the reasons you made. School buses, moms doing drop offs, etc. There is a school crossing guard which makes things even more slow. i know there's NO WAY you can go speeding down with all the chaos going on. So she's just being super bitter? Maybe she was trying to cross the street and you drove by? Who knows ... but don't let her get to you. She's clearly what my husband calls, the crazies.

Ugh, crazy! They should be yelling at the real unsafe drivers, but those guys will buzz by before anyone can say anything.

I once got yelled at by a driver behind me because I slowed down to go around some stupid guy just standing in the street. Apparently, because I just went through a yellow light and didn't slow, I'm also not supposed to slow down for mr. chat on the road . Right, I should just keep going because I'm confusing her with my braking!

oh my gosh, all these stories are good. I also live in NJ, so a certain about of crazy/aggressive driving (along with LOTS of honks) are pretty par-for-the-course here.

But the worst incident I remember was actually when I lived in Texas, in the small city where I grew up. My little sister just had her learner's permit, but I was over 21 so she could drive with me in the passenger seat. I had to Hobby Lobby, so I had her go with me to practice her driving.

So my little 15 year old sister was driving VERY carefully and we get to the parking lot and a car right in the front space was backing out---so I instructed my little sister to put on her blinker and wait for that space. A car behind us went NUTS--I mean, nuts--that we weren't moving along. This lady honked her horn continuously for about 7 solids minutes until the old lady pulling out of the space (very very sowly of course) left and we could pull in.

My little sister was almost crying, she was so overwrought. Just imagine 7 solid minutes of someone laying on the horn in a parking lot outside Hobby Lobby--people were coming outside to stare at the spectacle. There was actually space for the woman behind us to go around, but she refused and just kept honking. It was totally bizarre.

But she got her kharmic reward, because another random woman in the parking lot bitched the honking lady out and told her she was harassing us! haha. a total 3rd party bystander got into it with this woman on our behalf.

My little sister was so stressed out by the whole situation.

Ooh reading your post just makes my blood pressure rise. I hate people who decide to take the "law into their own hands" and self-police. Leave that to the police.

I was once in a school zone and was going the posted speed limit. Right as I turned a corner, the flashing school zone light turned off, indicating that the time period was over. I even checked the clock to make sure. So I sped up (not a ton, just a little). And this other car decided to take me to task and literally drove their car into my lane and tried to push me to the side of the road, while yelling at me! Ugh. This was a few years ago and it still makes my blood boil.

Yes... I grew up on a country road and one of our neighbors always used to make the slow down motion to us when we'd drive by. He did it to all of my family so I never took it personally LOL, he never yelled but I'm pretty sure he was muttering under his breath.

Ugh! I hate people like that!

Only a few days ago I pulled up alongside a car at the lights and he signaled for me to wind my window down. I did as he asked and he then proceeded to lay into me because my "headlights were blinding everyone" and how the glare from his rear view mirror (I was behind him for a while) was so much it nearly made him crash. It was foggy so I had my lights on - as did everyone else - but I apologised profusely and turned them off. When I got to work, I tested them and they're really not too bright.... ??? Moron.

Once I was making a left turn on my bike at a light, so I was stopped waiting for the way to be clear to turn. A truck was driving in the left lane, zoomed around me on the right, rolled his window down and called me a "little shit." I didn't really get it because even if I was a car, I would have had to be stopped. Maybe he didn't know the left hand signal I was doing and just thought I was standing in the street??

My husband seems to attract these types of people. I know his driving is a little aggressive, but he follows the rules of the road. One time, he "cut off" but didn't cut off some old dude (mid 50's!) doing 40km/h in a 60 zone. The guy followed my husband home and yelled at him then came back later and egged our car. SO MATURE.

I've never, personally, been yelled at, but I have had people give me the finger. Although, I'm also guilty about shaking my fist at people and honking because they drive like idiots.

They were crossing on a "do not cross" light" and DH almost hit them because the giant SUV next to us was blocking that view and we got the green arrow to turn in.
We apologized that we scared them and yes, obviously it would've been terrible for everyone if there was an accident. But we saw them, nothing happened. Everyone was OK. No need to scream at us in the parking lot.

Wow! I mean, I can understand her general concern, but that sounds a bit excessive, especially since you weren't speeding!

I've never been yelled at about my driving, no. I would be RATTLED if I was, and I don't think I'd be very nice about it :)

I had this dumb bitch who used to live down the street from my parents when I was in college step out IN FRONT of my Mustang and yell at me for speeding. a) The neighborhood we lived in.... that's super dumb because I easily could have been some idiot who pulled a gun on her and shot her ass in front of her kids (not a great area), b) they lived on the corner and I had JUST turned, meaning I was not speeding as I had just slowed down to turn. c) who steps out in the road in front of a car!?

I was so mad. I had to stop my dad from going down the street and tearing her a new one when I got in the house. He was probably more livid than I was.

This morning on our way out from daycare dropoff, a lady was standing on the side of the road leading out from daycare and signaled to us, so we pulled over and opened the window. She then proceeded to YELL at us for speeding down the street, said she saw us "bullet" down the road, and said "I live in this neighborhood, I don't know where you live, but if your kids go to nursery school here, imagine if you lived here and you were speeding and you hit and killed a kid, how would you feel then?" She was already walking away because Wagon Sr. had put his hand up and said "yes, thank you, alright" and we just drove away.

Normally when people say these kinds of things I go straight to apologetic, but I was immediately livid. The cross street she was waiting at is one of the busiest roads in town, and she obviously stalked us down there and waited for us to come back out after dropping the kids off. It's a known busy area and kind of dangerous because there's a school bus stop on that corner, and it becomes even more dangerous because parents park (RIGHT in front of the "no stopping anytime" signs all over!!) and wait for the school bus and there are kids everywhere. So there are cars all over the place, the buses literally stop right in the road to pick up the kids and it causes all this traffic right at rush hour. There is NO way we were going more than 10 mph anywhere near this intersection because of all the traffic. Unless she stalked us from like, half a mile away, there's no way she could have observed us going more than 10 mph. And the only road we drive on other than that road that's within walking distance has a speed limit of 35. The police station is RIGHT around the corner and they're always out there with the speed guns so we're always super vigilant.

Anyway, I had to get this off my chest. This lady was obviously sensitive because her kid's bus stop is at such a busy intersection and she gets nervous, but she has no right to pull us over and yell at us for driving our car under the speed limit on a public road! I lived on an even busier road for 6 years in that town and as annoyed as I got with some drivers, I never took it upon myself to flag one down and yell at them and present a hypothetical situation where they kill a child.
