I was reluctant at first, but a friend encouraged me to try it, and after having a few not so great experiences with hiring nannies/sitters recommended by others in the neighborhood, I did.</p> <p> It works well for posting one-off jobs. You post, interested sitters respond - it's especially great for short notice/weird hour jobs that you're not sure if people will want (ie, two hours in the middle of the afternoon on a Tuesday for a doctor appointment). You can ask screening questions, and you set your own rate. Through the site, we've also established great relationships with a few regular date-night sitters. For me, it works so much better than word of mouth. I limit my searches to sitters with background checks and who have a certain number of positive reviews/repeat families. When we were at a parenting expo a few weeks ago, we talked for a while with a rep from UrbanSitter and liked what we heard. We have a babysitter coming to interview on Thursday.</p> <p>I like that there's an app, that you can pay with credit card, I was able to find someone right in my neighborhood and read their profile etc.</p> <p>Has anyone else tried this? </p>
