@Miss Ariel: I think because of the bumpy/jerkiness. I've had worse bumps and turns on our car ride today, though!

@tlcbaby: I def wonder about the safari ride too. We'll be going in December and I hope to be pregnant then. Dd will be 2 then, and in most cases the ones she could ride don't have a pregnancy warming. But I know the safari does which I don't get. Maybe because it's bumpy?

@schubr03: That totally makes sense. My husband used to work at Disney, too. He worked in Fantasyland. He loved it there.

@tlcbaby: however, you are safe to ride anything without a lap bar and without any sudden movements. It is your call, no cast member is going to stop you from riding. However, they may warn you not to.

@tlcbaby: hello, so I worked on space mountain! 😊 The reason it is not recommended is because of the lap bar and where it is located. Unfortunately, for most pregnant moms, it lands right on top of the belly and if something were to happen (an emergency stop for example), the stop of the ride vehicle can be pretty abrupt and would put pressure on your belly. It would be the same as you falling on your belly. I have been on the coaster during an emergency stop, and when it stops, it is harsh. It jerks you forward. I know how hard it is, I went to Disney World when I was 7 months pregnant and I had to sit out of all of the coasters, including my "home" space mountain. I can assure you, it's probably best to opt out.

I would ride some things. Like the walk on rides where you can hold a baby on your lap.

@HLK208: I was reading a lot of message boards about it during our 13 hour road trip and someone said, "pregnant women have endured much worse hardships than Splash Mountain." :)

I've never heard of anything happening but I always ask my OB if something is questionable.

I went on a few rides very early on with my first pregnancy (I didn't even know I was pregnant yet) and the following week I was thrown off a jet ski multiple times! No problems here. But I probably wouldn't go on the rides later in the first tri or for the rest of the pregnancy.

Asking for a friend. Just kidding. I am on my way to Disney World and I know about all of the warnings and I'm not planning on getting on any roller coasters (maybe the Kilamanjaro Safaris, but no Thunder Mountain), but I've always wondered why you aren't supposed to and it seems the major concern is placental abruption. Definitely very serious and scary, but I haven't found one instance of it actually happening. So it just made me curious if anyone else had?
