I tend to agree with shantuck. I guess it can’t hurt for awake time during the day. My first had a very minor flat spot on the back of her head-I blame her good night sleeping from an early age. My second has not had one in the first four months,
Don’t know if that means we’re in the clear. His nighttime sleep was like the 4
Month sleep regression from birth until now so not a lot of lying down time and tons of tummy time just because he enjoys it.

I haven’t tried anything like that but I did want to mention that my pediatrician said that kids are either predisposed or not to flat heads when I asked her about using an rnp. She seemed to think that it doesn’t really matter what you do - they will either have trouble or not. Not sure if that is a widely shared opinion but just thought I’d share it.

My sister had a “noggin nest” for her son after he seemed to be developing a flat spot and she was happy with it. She used it during the day like in the swing and stroller, but not at night for sleep.

My first two kids must have been prone because they both had flat heads despite our really trying to avoid it with my son with positioning, babywearing, etc.

Several brands/styles of this seem to have good reviews on amazon, but I don't know whether their kids would have been fine without it anyway.. Thinking I might get one for the carseat/swing/bouncer but go without it at night.
