@LaughLines: Me too! Cervadil insertion was incredibly painful for me - like, possibly the most painful part of the entire thing including recovery, lol. Oh and my OB also got mad at me because she couldn't believe it was really painful.

I had nothing going on, had cervadil, pitocin, then repeated the whole process for another 24 hrs and still nada. I had a c-section after 2 days. I was induced on my due date due to high blood pressure.

@bluestriped bee: Thank you!!

@BlueWolverine: A friend of mine was also offered Ambien! Here's to hoping! Honestly I am thinking a c-seciton may happen in the end anyway. I don't know why, but I don't feel hopeful that I will just dilate easily with the meds. :/

I had Cytotex (the 4 hour version that is like Cervadil). It didn't really work for me. They did two rounds and I was still only maybe a fingertip dilated.

I had it. Checked in around 9pm, inserted at 11pm. They gave me a meal and some Ambien. It was lovely.

Woke up and my water broke on its own. Contractions didn't really start until the pitocin. Labored all day, got an epidural around 6pm. Still hadn't dialated past 3. My doc said more like 2.5. Because baby didn't like the epidural and I wasn't progressing, baby was born via c-section at 7:19pm.

Sounds like I'm in the minority here but placement for me REALLY hurt. Much worse than an exam. It felt like it cut me. I was squirming and the nurse was frustrated with me and then i got really nervous about the whole child birth thing if that hurt me so much, haha

But - worked really well, started contractions then got pit later to speed them up. Went in the hospital at 8pm, cervidel placed around 9pm, pit around 10am, epi around noon, baby born at 6:30pm. Wasn't dilated at all before going in and i was 6 days past due date

I was induced at 38w5d due to low amniotic fluid. I had 3 rounds of cervadil. For each of them, I had to lay flat on my back for the first hour, but then I could get up and move around some. It hurt a lot when they inserted it, but didn't hurt at all after they placed it.

Because I was admitted for low AF, I had a fetal HB monitor, IVs and those leg compression thingies. Everytime I had to get up, I had to unplug all of it and it was a pain. And I had to get up a lot since the IV was pumping me full of fluids and I had to go to the bathroom.

Also, unless I was pretty much flat on my back, the fetal HB monitor wouldn't read. The nurses were very lenient on that, especially during the 2nd and 3rd rounds, but they would come in every hour or so and make me lay down so they could get a few minutes of good readings.

After the 3rd round, I had pitocin for 8-9 hrs, and pushed for about 20 min before LO was born.

I was induced with cervidil overnight at 37 weeks (and not effaced or anything) due to low fluid. I could get up with it, but needed to move the IV stand with me (or maybe it was the fetal monitor?), so I didn't get up very often. It didn't really do anything, and I ended up having a 36ish hour labor with pitocin, a foley bulb, and eventual epi. Once I got the epi, after 12 hours of pit and still only 4cm, I took an amazing nap and fully dilated within a few hours, haha

@wrkbrk: @rachiecakes: Yes! You can ask about your "bishops score" to determine how favorable you are for induction. I wasn't favorable but it still ended with a great vaginal birth.

Me! I was induced because of baby's size.
I checked in and got cervadil the night before. I was already experiencing some mild contractions and has a very slow fluid leak.

It wasn't painful for me to get the cervadil but it did increase the intensity of my contractions. I could not get up and use the bathroom after they placed it inside of me.

I had them remove it that morning around 5 or 6 am because the contractions were so intense.

I did start pitocin, probably around 7:30 or so, after my doc came in and broke my water and I got my epidural. After that things were great!

I was fully complete around 2:30 and had LO at 4:12

@wrkbrk: I was induced with Cervidil at nearly 42 weeks. My water broke 45 minutes after its placement. I had no need for Pitocin, and DD was born twelve hours later.

I won't lie, induced labor is known to be a little more "fast and furious" - I got an epi when I was 8 cm, as I was absolutely exhausted. Otherwise, pretty decent labor experience!

I just had this with my last birth. Went in at 6:30 pm and had it inserted by 7 pm. As stated above, it's a little patch on a string. I needed to stay lying down for 2 hours after insertion and then I could get up. I had it in for 12 hours and then they started the pitocin. It was a really easy birth and wish I had it for my first one!

@wrkbrk: I did!

It was this little patch on a string (I've referred to it as the world's tiniest tampon when explaining to friends, lol), didn't hurt at all.
They inserted it and told me to just hang out. For me, it was all I needed as my water broke within a few hours and I immediately went into labor. No pitocin.

Good luck! :heart: :goodluck:

I got it the night before. Didn't hurt at all. Helped to get me dilating but they still ran pitocin. I was a week late and nada was happening down there prior to the scheduled induction
I was able to get some sleep with it in. Also was able to go to the bathroom but the nurses needed to help me get out of bed because of the monitors.
Pitocin mid morning, got the epi soon after, started pushing at about 730 pm (I remember because Seinfeld was on, a rerun of the finale, how fitting) and baby was out at 9 pm. I'd call it a smooth delivery and better than I expected.

I think my experience was probably different from most but I'll share anyway. My water broke at 37/6, they did one check and my cervix was 'soft' (no mention of effacement %) but fully closed. They wanted to minimize vaginal exams to reduce the risk of infection so I was actually given the oral form. It definitely worked for me! At my next check (4 hours later) I was 3-4cm and having regular contractions. I had been managing the pain well but ended up needing pitocin which was absolutely unbearable for me. My body reacted really strongly to it and I dilated super fast and painfully after that. I can't speak for bathroom use with the vaginal form, but I would assume it would be fine (think peeing with a tampon in)

Me! I was induced due to GD, so I was NOTHING before too. I did a 12 hour round (dr shoved it up there; it hurt a little but not as bad as them checking your cervix!). Basically, my first dose was around 1am, and I don't think they did it a 2nd time. I started to dilate around like 10am-ish the next day, got epidural maaaybe around lunch time? Pitocin somewhere in there too, started pushing at 9pm, baby out at 11pm.

I had this induction overnight like you are talking about. I was zero effaced, zero dilated, baby high. I did a 12 hour round, then started a second round, which caused contractions and dilation to begin after about 2-3 hours. The plan was to then start pitocin, but the dilation was moving along well enough that it wasn't needed. I gave birth about 8 hours after dilation began.

Yes, I could use the bathroom, just had to tell the nurse each time because of monitors, which was annoying. The pain was both less and more than I expected. I got epi around 6cm

Today is my due date and since we did IUI and we know exactly when I conceived, my doctor will induce next week if nothing happens before then. He said I would come in and have cervadil placed overnight. I am fully effaced but have zero dilation at the moment. :/

If you had cervadi for an induction, what was your experience like? Did it work? Did it hurt? Did you get pitocin afterwards? Could you get up and go to the bathroom while the cervadil was in?

Thanks for any insights!!
