My vocal cords have been damaged by how many times I've had strep and (this is gross and TMI) my tonsils have giant holes in them because they're just destroyed. It seems like now that I'm older, it hits me worse than ever before and I'm sick of it. As soon as the winter hits I get nervous just waiting for when I get strep. After the third round of strep my doc said my tonsils needed to come out. It seems to just be never-ending the years I'd get them. When I do get sick nowadays, it usually has something to do with my tonsils. Last year I had it so bad that it came back, and I got pnemonia at the same time and ended up in the hospital. Probably 5 or 6 times a year. Because of my age my Dr never wanted to take out my tonsils, because of my age the recovery is harder. She said they wanted you to have it a minimum of 8 times a year (if I remember correctly). She said by the time I was 26 I would outgrow the issue. I have I guess. Then they took out my tonsils finally and the surgeon said all the antibiotics did for me was make me feel better for a short time but the infection never went away. He said my tonsils were badly infected and at that time I was "healthy" or so I thought. Having my tonsils removed was the best thing I ever did! I didn't get sick for about 6 years after that. </p> <p>Hopefully they can give you a stronger round of antibiotics to knock it out of you. Has the doctor given you the same antibiotics the each time, or tried different, stronger ones? I've also had 3 other colds inbetween and I'm worried there's a bigger issue as to why I'm always sick. I'm going back on antibiotics today and will get my blood drawn to rule out other problems. Oh and I'm taking my 5 year old with me to get tested since he could be a carrier (5-10 is the most common strep age).</p> <p>Anyone else gone through this?! I'm dying! This is so hard to deal with while taking care of 3 kids. </p>
