Dr said it didn't look like the typical bullseye but gave me the rx anyway. I filled it but did not want to take it until I got the confirmation that it was/wasn't Lyme. The next day or so I started to feel awful - basically like the flu but worse, couldn't really get out of bed or talk I was so achy. I started taking the rx right away and was 100% better after a full course of meds. From what I understand 10% of the ticks here carry it and you basically get meningitis. Gah! Maybe 10 or so? My mom caught it right away, and other than sleeping a lot (still!!) he doesn't have any lasting effects. My coworker's wife had it while pregnant and also has chronic pain many years later. He didn't have very good luck. He was pretty sick for a while, months really. It manifested into sleep issues for him. He still has bad insomnia to this day. I took those super nasty antibiotics and unfortunately they made me feel worse than the tick bite, but that is because I just reacted badly to them! It's been over a year and I have had no more side effects or anything! I saw him about 4 days later and was horrified to see the bullseye lesions at that time. He has a high fever and is in a lot of pain (body aches, spinal pain, headaches, etc.). </p> <p>How long does the severe pain last? Once you finished your 28 days of antibiotics, did you have lasting effects?</p> <p>He is really concerned because he is a firefighter and his job depends on him being physically fit. </p>
