@avivoca: Just thispast couple of weeks I decided something is better than nothing, so I'm just doing a little bit of portion control. I guess I was just looking for something to jumpstart me.

Also the little bit of exercise I get now is walking the kids to the park a couple of times a week, and that will disappear once the weather gets bad since my daughter has such bad eczema in the cold weather.

@bamblm: that's tough... I can't be motivated to do anything that early/late, so I totally understand! Hope you find a solution that works for you!

@mrsrain: I had a much easier time losing the baby weight last time when I could go to the gym twice a week. Since moving I would have to work out before 5:30AM or after 9PM, and honestly I just can't get motivated when it is that extreme. It was soooooooo much easier when I could work out right after work. :bummed: Way to go on the 10lbs in 2 months!! I am so jealous.

I haven't heard of that one - but I did do The Fast Diet once. It's fasting under 500 calories 2 days per week. It actually wasn't too difficult and I did lose some weight, but I stopped after about a month.

Before I got pregnant I lost 20 pounds by using my fitness pal app and just eating what I wanted but watching the portions and calories. And I did a 30 minute exercise 5 days per week. Trying to get back to that now after baby!

Have you thought about substituting healthier options in the meals you are already preparing? I'm not sure what your current diet is like, so I don't know what you and your family are used to eating. I also found that it's been really hard to lose the last ten pounds of baby weight through diet alone (for me). I'm having to up my exercise and change my eating habits to see any kind of difference.

What worked for me was to join a beach body challenge at my local Y. They had us doing intense workouts 3 days a week and gave us nutritional challenged each week, too. I lost about 10 lbs in 2 months! Stuff like this tends to be more effective because it focuses on working out and creating healthy habits. Dieting never seems to work for me. Just my 2 cents!

@bamblm: eh, i suppose! You'd be really freaking hungry for those 5 days, though, and then probably binge on the 6th day, negating every calorie lost

@blackbird: ugh. that's what i thought- too good to be true, but then again, 1lb per month wouldn't be too bad, i'd lose the baby weight (10 lbs) in less than one year, as opposed to now, which is the same. exact. weight. every. time.

I don't see how you can lose any weight unless you're in a calorie deficit, so 5 days/month won't exactly undo 25 days/month of bad eating......and even then, 1000 calories for 5 days versus an average baseline calorie intake....and you've lost....a whole pound. Number-wise. In a month.

I need to do something to lose the baby weight, but it is near impossible to diet with a husband, toddler, infant and in-law to prepare meals for. Has anyone here heard of or tried the Dr. Longo Fasting mimicking diet? https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/to-your-health/wp/2015/06/22/heres-how-a-five-day-diet-that-mimics-fasting-may-reboot-the-body-and-reduce-cancer-risk/

I heard someone talking about it, it sounded like five days every month or so of a lower calorie plant based diet. Any nutritionists here? Five days a month sounds more doable to me than preparing separate healthy meals for myself.
