I really liked the Siblings Without Rivalry book, it gives tips for both dealing with sibling squabbles (which I'm sure is what drives many frustrated parents to pick up the book) and how to interact with your kids both individually and as a group. It discusses not labelling each kid (John is my little artist, Mary is my soccer player!) or pitting them against each other. I also just read Peaceful Parent, Happy Siblings and really loved that, I've been implementing as many of the techniques she suggests and I really see it working for my kids. Emphasizes connecting with each kid, some of the same key concepts as Siblings..., and the main focus is encouraging problem solving in your kids. I'm not good at summarizing tips but I'm sure there are some amazon or Goodreads reviews that do a nice job. I never finished How to talk... but I should probably pick it back up. I find it easier to listen to non fiction books on my phone sometimes (I get the audio books from the library), as I can get easily distracted while reading if I'm not totally engrossed as I would be with a good novel.

It's good!!! I really like that it gives you real life examples (the suggested way of handling a situation vs. a less effective way). I really love examples, and I appreciate that it covers a wide range of ages and behaviors. It's not all discipline either (like, how to comfort a kiddo if a pet dies).

Has anyone read the new "How to Talk so Little Kids Will Listen" book? Can you give a summary of best points/practices?

I'm trying to decide whether or not to get a copy.

Also, has anyone read the older "Siblings Without Rivalry" book? I'd also love a summary of some of those best practices/tips.
