this was arranged by the moving co that did our relo (through DH's work). they picked up in Boston on a small flatbed and took it out somewhere in the suburbs to go on the trailer for Dallas. we shipped two (at separate times) and both got there with no issue. definitely take photos and be sure about any damage. our pickup guy did a very thorough inspection himself and it all had to be noted since they didn't want to be liable for prior damage. communication en route was a little sketchy I have to say, and we probably got better treatment as a relo. one time the trailer broke down and held things up in the delivery schedule.

We just had 2 cars shipped from Missouri to Utah. We did a corporate move so I can't say anything about how much it cost. Our company was Reindeer Auto. They were pretty responsive if we had questions. We sent the cars at different times and neither got any dents. The only issue was the delivery date/times. The first truck broke down so it was 3-5 days after our original promise date before the car was delivered, but they did give us a reimbursement for the extra days. They also weren't really great about giving us notice before drop-off. But they both made it here safe and sound so I can't complain too much.

Also, they wouldn't let us have anything in the car. We were hoping to leave car seats in so we wouldn't have to pack them, but everything had to come out.

We've done it a few times. In my experience, they are all pretty "meh." One big positive is that many companies allow you to pack a decent amount of stuff in the back/trunk, so we always pack stuff we'll need soon after we arrive because it's easy to unload from the car.

My advice would be to take really good pictures of your car from every angle before it gets loaded onto the truck, because small (and sometimes big!) dents happen. My parents' car was shipped last spring and arrived home with the driver's side window smashed (not sure how that happened!)....suffice it to say find a company, see if you can get a decent quote, and get the driver's direct cell phone number so you can be in communication about your car's whereabouts the whole time. Good luck!

We did it six years ago too. I have no clue which company it was. DH's company selected them. I remember the guy did not know how to drive a stick and after several scary attempts by the driver DH took over and drove his car onto the trailer.
