@BoogieBea: Awww. No, I don't remember it lasting very long at all - I'm sure my parents would have noticed if it had. And I'm just fine now.

@Beehive: oh that's probably what she was trying to do. Get as close to our room as possible? Poor thing. :crying: Did you do that for a long period of time?

@BoogieBea: Awww, that picture is so sweet. I remember when I was really little I spent part of a few night sleeping on the floor outside my parent's room. It was comforting to see them through the slightly ajar door. I mentioned this to my mom recently, and she had no idea I had done that, and thought it was so sad! hahahaha

Thanks for responding ladies.

So, I ended up leaving her on the floor last night. Her room shares a bathroom with her brother's room so I was able to sneak in there to put a blanket over her and turn off the light. Apparently, she woke up again some time during the night and turned the light back on because it was on when I went in this morning. She slept on the floor the entire night but at least she stayed in her room.

I think I'm going to try and leave her table lamp on for her tonight because she seems to like the light.

@T-Mom: we transitioned her to a toddler bed pretty seamlessly right after she turned two. Her brother was getting his big boy bed so we just switched her too. That's why I thought we were in the clear in regards to sleep issues with her. Not the case apparently.

@Mamaof2: I think she's at a phase where if she sees me, she'll just cling on and get more emotional. She wasn't even fully crying when she was yelling for me and it stopped as soon as she got out of bed.

@mamimami: yes, I am definitely going to try incentives. She does love stickers so ill try that. I already promised her a bell for her bike and she already asked about this morning when I went to get her.

@Maysprout: last week she had one random night where she did the same and I told her I had to work (which is not a lie since I do try to get some work done at night) and she was fine with that. That hasn't been working the last few days.

I just would tell her I need to go take a shower or something and will be back and she sometimes she'd "read" or play with her stuffed but animals after I left but she's usually asleep within 10 min or so.

Sticker charts were magic for my son. Every morning when he woke up after sleeping all night in his own bed, he got a sticker. When he filled up the whole page, he got to pick a toy. Bribery... I mean, INCENTIVES, work :D

PS After awhile the chart went away but he still sleeps all night in his bed 99 percent of the time.

My DD is 3 and 99% of the time she stays in bed but here and there she will get up and turn on her light and start playing. I go in and turn off her light and make her get back in bed.

If she was getting up and sleeping on the floor (not playing) then I would just leave her there.

My DS went thru a phase where he wanted to sleep in the hallway - whatever.... at least he was sleeping :silly:

@BoogieBea: What did you end up doing last night.. did you leave her there?

My 30 month old DS started having sleep issues when we moved him from the crib to floor bed. He started getting up at night and crying, or opening the door and showing up next to our bed. He also refused to let us leave the room before falling asleep. We eventually put him back in his crib where he is for now, and we'll try again in a few months! I'm the same as you.. my DD was a wonderful sleeper until 2 yr, when at that point we had to lie next to her all night for 2 yrs. We didn't want to repeat that pattern again so we're trying a different way this time ...

My 32 month old daughter has always been a good sleeper. We were lucky that we didn't have to really sleep training her when she was a baby. The only times she had sleep issues were when she had fevers. Traveling never affected her sleep either. Just this week, she's been asking to sleep with me. She did sleep with me for a couple nights while my husband was away on business earlier this week. My son has sleep problems too and I didn't know how to deal with both of them during bedtime. He came back today so we're able to divide and conquer again. I did her bedtime routine as usual, put her down and left her room. She yelled for me and cried/yelled for less than 10 minutes. Then she got up, took her sleep sack off, turned on the light and became quiet. I peeked under her door and she is right by the door sleeping (at least I think she is now, it's been 10 minutes since she got out of bed). Should I just leave her there for the night?
I do not want to repeat the mistakes we made with our son, but how do we fix this?
