And we actually do this with my 3 year old. She has a twin bed in her room but for some reason she likes to nap in our room. We set up a little area in the window behind our bed with a floor mat and a tiny bookshelf where she naps every day. It's more that she's in a room full of people so when she wakes up she sees everyone else sleeping and her teachers are there so she goes back to sleep. This what we do at home and she naps great. If I try to put her in her crib she freaks out and won't nap. At home in her crib she'll only nap 40-90 minutes then wake up screaming. Today she woke after 40 minutes and wouldn't go back down, but when we came downstairs she immediately laid down on the living room floor and passed out. </p> <p>Has anyone tried mat/floor naps at home? Did it work? I'm afraid she won't understand it's nap time if we don't put her in the crib. </p>
