I did if I was offsite. I found I got 0.5 ounces less over the course of the day in the same amount of time. What I did was get two manuals and used them both at the same time. It was honestly great because the pumps don't look super funny when going through security and are quiet for bathroom pumping.

I did, sometimes. Like if I was going to a meeting somewhere with no private access to an outlet, or in the office when I was down to one pump a day. It's so much better. Only problem was, it's one-sided so it doubled my pumping time.

I primarily use my PISA at work but I have a computer job so not using my hands means I can keep working. I too like my hand pump better and I feel like I can get the same amount in the same time even though I have to do one side at a time. I had a work event for a week with no electricity access during the day so I used my hand pump all week and my supply was fine. I also didn’t feel like it took any longer. Maybe even less time cause there’s less set up. Anyway, I think it’s worth a shot if not having both hands doesn’t hinder your break at all. Worst case you can switch back if it doesn’t work out.

My SIL only manual pumped. And her daughter was exclusively bottle-fed. She didn't need to book specific times for a closet or anything at work, so she would just pump for 5 minutes here and there and be faster with her breaks.

So I also prefer my hand pump, though mine is Lansinoh. I use it when I need to get milk out fast and am not really worried about maintaining supply. I would be concerned about using it 2-3x a day, 5 days in a row as far as maintaining supply. Pumping a few minutes after your breasts empty (as you would with an electric but probably not a manual) seems to be important in maintaining supply, and double pumping also may help get more milk.

So... if you have a pumping session here or there where you really need to be quick I would use the manual but I wouldn't use it exclusively.

I love my manual Medea hand pump. I’m currently using my old Medela PISA at work, but I have a Spectra S2 that I haven’t used it. I lost the power adapter and need to order another one 😬 I’m not really happy with my PISA this time around, but it could be that it’s an older pump.

I feel like it’s faster and less painful to use the manual pump than my Medela PISA when I am at home and need to pump. I’m a teacher so any time away pumping is precious time away from my students or during my lunch time.

How efficient in terms of time was using your manual at work?
Did you get a comparable amount of milk during the work week using your hand pump than your electric?
