@MamaG: she did! She had her tonsils and adenoids removed in February 2016. It was the best decision. No strep and no choking since the surgery date.

My brothers and I all had ours out before age 10. I remember the pain, but I think at such a young age they will love the popsicles more than re-occurring strep!

Do it early!! Mine were horribly scarred by 24 and making/keeping me sick for years and recovery sucked. My 18 year old sister recovered in days to my weeks. I will not hesitate to get them out for my girls if needed!

I had them out as an adult (which sucked!) but I've heard it is way easier recovery to have them out as a kid.

My sister had hers out at 2 years old and my mom said her recovery was pretty quick! Kids bounce back so much faster than adults. I was 20 when I had mine out and there were little kids/toddlers who went into surgery after me and got to go home before me!

I had mine out when I was around 7. My sister was 6 and my brother I think only 2!

I don't remember too much other then after having a sip of orange juice and it stung. My mom said my brother recovered quickest.

Good luck! It helped with all our throat troubles!

I can tell you that I had mine out as a child and the only lasting memory I have is my stuffed animal that went to surgery with me having a surgical mask on after surgery :)

And it was amazing in that I've probably only had strep 2-3 times at the most since then and I'm now in my 40's.

That's not exactly what you were looking for, but from what I've heard, the younger it's done the better.

My 3.5 year old has had recurrent strep. It's actually been a few months since she had an infection but her tonsils are still huge. She's been choking on food and having a hard time swallowing.

We were referred to an ent for an evaluation and the ped thinks she needs them out.

Any positive stories? I'm afraid it will be terribly painful and scary for her 😪
