LO has locked me out of a bathroom, but I was able to get a screwdriver and unlock the door.

@looch: I learned my lesson with my keyless entry last week. The battery failed without warning (it is supposed to beep a bunch of times and I would think it would last at least 1-2 more days) and we were locked out after going on a walk. Luckily, nobody was locked inside, but we still had to call a locksmith to open the door. I will proactively replace the battery yearly from now on!!! Much cheaper & stressfree than a house call from a locksmith!

Yes! Just the other week when I was signing for a package. Lucky I took keys out with me since I have been worried about it happening.

DS actually just locked my DH out when I was out of town this past weekend. He locked the slider on him (just backyard though, not balcony). DH said he almost called my dad to bring over the spare front door key but DS was visible and standing near the back door the whole time so hubs was able to coach him on reopening the lock.

We are now getting a key cut and hiding one outside in case this happens again!

Same as @looch: we have keyless entry so it would be impossible. But I would not be at all surprised. LO is quite capable of turning the deadbolt. We had to change the setting on our alarm system so that it chimes any time someone opens a door because she can do the locks and the doorknobs.

@Greentea: It's not electric, it's battery powered. There's a key backup, too.

@looch: nice! That would be very reassuring. Is it electronic?/ knowing my luck there'd be some freak electrical happening... our entry has keyfob keyless entry and I love it, it has malfunctioned, but then has key backup.

@clover: nice, I suppose I'd be less stressed getting locked out of a home with multiple points of entry.

@avivoca: knock on wood! ;)

@Bao: oh no! Good thing you were able to do some shimmying and get back in! Yeah, good idea about the keys. It's one of those things I never thought would happen...

Yes!! Just the other week. Luckily DH was home and the kitchen window was unlocked so he could climb up and unlock it. We need to get a key made to leave in the garage since if we are outside the garage is always open (it's not attached).

No but I could totally picture him trying. Wouldn't do much good since we have a keypad lock on the door leading in from the garage, I would just go through there.

Not possible in my house! My husband has installed keyless entry locks so I never have to worry about being outside without keys.

We don't have a slider though, don't know what I would do in that scenario.

No, but I worry about it now that she can reach the lock on the door to the garage. I need to switch it out for a new door/doorknob anyway and will keep a spare out there just in case.

Now that I've said that, she's probably going to lock me out of the house. But the door is flimsy enough that I could probably break it with something if I needed to.

DD locked me out this morning. I went onto the porch to get her shoes... and she had flipped the locking mechanism! Near heart attack when I turned around and the door was locked. All on a porch on a high rise in pajamas.

(I always close the door when going on the porch for safety and noise/pollution, but never again!)

I was able to coach her to unlock the sliding door, thank goodness, so I learned my lesson without extra complications but OMG.

Have you ever been locked out by LO?
