OMG WOW. I am so sorry you had to go through those moments.
I've been there.
It has happened twice. One time, I was in his room, while he was asleep, and it went off. I jumped up to his crib and yelled his name and he kind of startled awake.
Another time, it was in the middle of the night and me and DH SPRUNG OUT of bed. I mean, we ran down the hallway, like bats out of hell, to the nursery yelling our son's name. I was practically in tears by the time we got there. LO looked VERY tired like he has gone into deep sleep.
Those incidents were before the age of 4m.

We did have 2 false alarms, meaning, I could hear LO's voice cooing on the monitor *as* the alarm went off, haha. It just meant he rolled off the sensor pad. We not have a video monitor alongside the angel care anyways.

**in regards to it being normal: It somewhat is, from my understanding. Angelcare beeps during the "normal" time so that the parents can come and wake the child up. If God forbid the child doesn't wake up then they must resuscitate. I do feel better knowing it beeps after 15seconds, because there "is still time". I hate this subject....

@jmarionsmith: okay, update! I spoke to the nurse. she said going up to 20 seconds without a breath is normal so since angelcare goes off at 10 seconds I should go to his room, turn on some lights so I can see him and check his color / wait until its 20 seconds to disturb him / turn off the alarm. by 20 seconds he should have taken a breath on his own. and he shouldn't be pale.

soooo I guess now I wait and see if it happens again. and review my infant CPR handbook in the meantime. I know I'm just being paranoid and she is right about the little breaks buttttt on the other hand things do happen so I am going to be prepared for the worst just in case.

in the meantime, forgot to mention that my husband insisted on sleeping in there last night after it went off. he is the most worried of everyone...loves that little man so much (as do i).

will continue to keep y'all posted. but hopefully there will be nothing to report. :)

@T.H.O.U.: we put him down with one while he is still drowsy but he spits it out while he is falling asleep and doesn't have it the rest of the night.

@jmarionsmith: yeah, it is just strange! NOTHING has changed in how he sleeps / where / etc. and this never happened until the last few weeks. I thought if anything breathing was supposed to get more regulated not less. we will see what they say...

wow that is scary! our alarm goes off several times a night but it is always because he's rolled to the very edge and can't be detected (i still have to check to be sure each time.) i would definitely call the ped about it but i call about everything so...

please let us know what they say!

@T.H.O.U.: @78h2o: thanks for answering. :) just wanted to make sure I wasn't being crazy and setting myself up for "this is why we don't recommend them" (which maybe they will say but I still feel like I need to bring it up). I don't think these are false alarms, unless his breathing is just so, so, so shallow that it can't detect it. but I find it odd that all 3 times it has happened at 3:30 in the morning. like his deepest sleep time maybe? and I put my hand on his belly and do NOT feel anything until I say his name and he wakes up a bit. AGH. I'll report back what I hear from the ped just in case anyone runs into the same problem... :(

I'd talk to the ped. My LO had a Snuza alarm and it only went off 2x - both times because I hadn't put it on right (had forgotten to put it on diaper before she fell asleep and put it on swaddle) and it had fallen off. It's prob no big deal, but better safe than sorry.

If it happened once or twice, I wouldn't worry about it. But since you know hes in the right spot and he seems to not take a breath until you say his name. Then I would absolutely talk to the pedi about it.

I understand that many aren't into this kind of monitor but you are the mom and if you are even thinking something is wrong, you need to bring it up to them. There are things that they can check on to make sure he's sleeping ok.

We've used angelcare in the crib since DS was born and had no alarms...until now (5.5m). He is asleep on his back in the very middle of the crib. It went off 1x per night on 2 days last week and just happened again. All three times its around 330a! I ran in to check on him and it seems like he's in a super deep sleep but I have to say his name to get him to crack an eye open and then I feel his belly rising again. But when I first go to him I can't feel it!

I'm so freaked out about this now. The sensitivity is all the way up and we aren't picking him up when it happens but it doesn't happen again in the same night so it seems like he's in an okay spot for the sensor (ie it is NOT a rolling thing).

Would you tell the ped? I've read that many aren't into this kind of monitor....? Any thoughts are appreciated, thanks :(
