We were literally loading things into the car and had stepped away for two minutes and came back to find the window smashed -- her purse and GPS were gone. What's crazy is that our rings were in still in the console!!! When I lived in Philly, someone smashed one of the "small" side windows on my Honda. They opened compartments I didn't even know my little Honda had...but since I keep absolutely nothing of value in my car, they had nothing to steal. </p> <p>Thank goodness they didn't do any additional senseless damage, though. @mrsmac Setting your *trunk* on fire?! Once, my ex's window was broken &amp; they stole his stereo out of the dashboard. There was absolutely nothing in it to steal, and since the only thing damaged was the lock, we though, "eh, annoying but whatever." </p> <p>Then my husband remembered his work tools were in the trunk and when he went to check that we realized they had SET OUR TRUNK ON FIRE! The plastic lining was totally melted, fusing the whole thing shut. WTF.</p> <p>When we called the police to report it they said there had been a string of car break-ins and thefts in our neighbourhood overnight. The car had to be towed to the shop, it wasn't even drive-able. Total bummer. I noticed it wasn't locked and I just thought I forgot to lock it. Then I saw the driver seat was pushed all the way back. They didn't take anything, all I had in the car was some sunglasses.
