It was probably around 6 or 7 months mine started to really notice and be interested in our dog. Around 10 months they would play tug a war together it was so cute. She is 15 months now and very obsessed with out dog. She says his name about 10 x's more than any other word and its the first thing she says when she wakes up. she just got in the phrase where she wants to tackle him which he doesn't like so we are working on being "gentle" again.

Yes and no. Our cat HATED DD when we first brought her home (wouldn't even stay in the same room as her). Over time, he accepted that she's here to stay but has never been particularly warm to her. DD started to find him interesting once she got mobile, but lately she's really down on him -- she doesn't want him in her room, near her toys, etc. Fortunately, she doesn't seem jealous of us petting or holding him. But sometimes they're very sweet together. For the most part, though, it's still a pretty tenuous truce.

DS tolerates our dog but DD seems to really like him and will pet him and try to play with him. At first, when the LOs were younger they didn't really pay attention to him, but now that they are older and more aware I guess they have different feelings about him.

It is a total 180º from when I brought DS home from the hospital. Our dogs used to be so skittish around him and didn't like him to touch him that I tried to keep them away. Now that he is three and can play with them, they are getting along so much better. It is so much fun to watch. I think it mostly has to do with the fact that he can give them treats and will throw the ball with them forever.

@mediagirl: yes a lot!

DS liked our dog but had no real interest in her until about age 7 and now he LOVES her - kinda scares me though because she is 15 so I think it will be really hard on him when she dies :crying:

As they have gotten older (both pet and child) how has their relationship changed?

My daughter didn't pay much attention to our dog for some time. Now, she cares for her. She feeds her, takes her outside, gives her treats. She also requested our dog sleep in her room so now, Thumper goes to bed when our daughter does. :)
