When I was 1, I burned my had severely on a closed oven. Back in the 80's the front used to get super hot. My grandma was babysitting and wasn't watching me closely enough. My mom never really got over it.

I don't think LO could get burned easily on ours but I try to redirect her when she's crawling near it!

I can see how this could happen, so I've always been pretty careful about keeping L away from the stove when it's on. Even when it's not on, I still try to re-direct him if he's banging on the door or using it as a support for standing so that it doesn't become too much of a habit or thing that he thinks is safe.

No, but she could definitely burn herself on ours; the outside gets incredibly hot and she could probably get her fingers in around the edges of the door. We have a gate on the kitchen that we close if the oven is on..

Yep. The oven was still hot from us cooking supper in it. DS was playing with the drawer underneath the oven, reached in, and managed to burn his arm. I freaked out at the time but he was a trooper and it healed in a few days. Don't worry, momma, it'll heal soon!

LoL yes! This has happened to me. In our current apartment the oven is very old and the kitchen is very small. When the oven gets really hot, the door itself does. I leaned over to get something out of the fridge and the back of my thighs hit the oven. Owwww

My LO (13 mo) was messing around the oven while I had it one baking something. The oven was *closed* but he got a finger wedge in somehow and he got a tiny burn on one finger! WTF?? How is this possible? I didn't think I needed to worry about having the oven on with him in the kitchen (we have a baby proof lock on it).

He is okay, but has a little blister there now. I gave him Tylenol and put a little arnica gel on it. :(
