Yeah, we use that same trick, too. Sometimes it works and other times she doesn't budge anyway.

My husband left for a work trip this past Sunday afternoon. He had spoken to LO about his upcoming trip on several occasions to prepare him. Still, he woke up from his nap Sunday afternoon and wanted to see daddy. I calmly tried to explain it to him again but he wasn't listening. To stop him from whining and crying, I even tried to offer him some Halloween candy but he wasn't having any of it. I had to get the kids ready to go to a birthday party. I thought about not going but figured it'd be a good distraction once he's there. Finally, I just told him that we had I go and for him to put his shoes and jacket on. He kept saying no. So I told him that he can stay by himself and I'd go with his sister. Usually, once I say something like that he'll ask to go. But this time he just said okay. So I got ready, put his sister in the car and even went as far as starting the car and locking the house door. He just sat there. I went back in several times, pretending I had forgotten something, hoping he'd change his mind but he didn't even budge. Finally, I just went in, grabbed his shoes, coat and told him he was coming. Luckily, there was no more crying and by the time we got there, he was in a much better mood.
