The other day I was showering and told the kids to play in Mommy's bedroom. My 3 year old went outside to climb trees and in the process let my 1 year old out as well. Fortunately DS stayed on the front porch (they couldn't have been outside more then a minute) but DD was in so so much trouble. We had a long talk about how dangerous that was for her brother and he doesn't know not to go in the road, etc.

Yes. I was napping and woke up to our alarm going off and it was him trying to escape.
I always keep the alarm on in the house even when I'm here, for that reason.

My LO escaped from daycare.... He was upset that I was leaving and they had doors propped open (for some stupid reason) and he managed to get through 3 sets of doors and race to the elevator bank. Luckily I was still there and caught him. And another teacher was literally sprinting after him. I wasn't too happy.... The doors have all been shut since, obviously.

Luckily not yet (DD is cautious) but she does like to open doors! I am grateful that our new house has an old security system that chimes whenever a door is opened, though!!

Yes and it was terrifying. I was pregnant with dd2 and exhausted and dealing with morning sickness. I was sitting on the couch watching a show with dd1 who was 2.5 and I must have dozed off. Luckily she was just in the backyard, but it was my scariest parenting moment to date. Our backyard is huge and not fenced, and the resident entrance to our neighborhood is just on the other side of our (also not fenced) neighbors yard. She was running around with both dogs and all I could think about was how easily one of the dogs could have darted across the yard into the busy street and she would have followed them. I didn't even know she could unlock the sliding door, but the next day we put an extra lock at the top of it.

Not my LO, but my friend was coming to my house for lunch last week and called to say she found a two year old with no pants walking down the sidewalk with her dog. We couldn't get the two year old to say where she lived and called the police. The dad finally showed up, but the girl was missing for about 20 minutes. They think she walked out while they were bringing groceries in the house, and she was about a half block away when my friend found her. So scary!

Yesterday DD1 opened the front door and got halfway down the driveway before we knew she was gone. She was also pants-less. We thankfully live in a very safe area and it's a walk I will occasionally let her take alone if I know about it, but it was still scary! We had big a talk about asking permission after that. Has your LO every escaped?
