DS is 13 months now, but fell off our bed head first at 7 months when DH left him there (he was crawling) and mistakenly thought that a phone would keep him occupied long enough for him to grab something from our dressing room.

He's also fallen off the ottoman (that we use as a changing table).

He was fine both times, though we did do the two hour check for bedtime sleep just to be sure he was okay.

he has fallen off the bed twice, but not the changing table or swing. we don't have a swing or rocker, and once as he started rolling, we started changing his diaper on the floor as opposed to the changing table.

@Adira: Oh it wasn't even a changing pad like the kind with the sloped sides - i mean just a waterproof pad like in a diaper bag. The whole damn thing just slid off :(

I had put LO in the pack n plays top attachment to bring in groceries at 7 months when she decided to practice standing up. She flipped over and fell on our floor. Just in case, I took her to our doctor and she had to get a head X-ray. Trying to get a baby to be absolutely still and fit into the machine was more traumatic on her. And she was fine.

My LO fell off of our bed (I'd laid her there to change her for bathtime, and stupidly turned my back for a minute) around 7 months old. She had the wind knocked out of her and it was pretty scary! She didn't even bruise, but I felt terrible.

@BananaPancakes: I had this happen to me. I was leaned back with my feet on a little stool breastfeeding on the couch and I fell asleep and she rolled down my legs onto the floor.

Never out of any baby container though. Although my friend put her baby in a swing and then turned around to do something before she buckled her in. Her toddler decided that was an opportune time to give baby an under-duck.

Clearly I'm not winning Mother of the Year - DD has called off something twice.

When she was very young (maybe 2-3 months?) she was swaddled and ready for bed. I set her down on the ottoman for a second and she rolled right off. It was only about a foot drop but she was not happy!

She also managed to roll of the changing table (really a dresser with a changing pad on top). She was 8 months old at the time. She was on her changing pad, and I leaned down to tie the diaper trash bag, thinking that if I kept my body close to the dresser she wouldn't fall off. But I was wrong. She rolled right off between my body and the dresser. I don't think she hit the dresser on the way down. It happened at night so I was scared to put her to bed. I stayed up with her for a bit to make sure she seemed okay. The next day she didn't even have a bruise. Both times we didn't even call the doctor because she seemed fine.

R fell off her changing table two times in the same week! Oy. She was about 8.5 months old. It was a pad on top of a dresser. The first time was blatantly my fault since I turned to reach for a fallen diaper. The second time? I was right in front of her but still managed to not fully catch her. Thankfully she was fine, not a mark on her, despite hysterical cries. We transitioned to changes on her floor after that though.

LO made a lemming-like dive off the changing table a few weeks ago (he was 13 months old) and fortunately I managed to intervene about halfway to the floor.

When I gently lowered him down, he was so busy laughing at the fun of jumping off the table, he didn't notice that I was having kittens and a heart attack at the same time.

@JoJoGirl: Ours isn't a real changing table either - it's a dresser with a changing pad on top! So there are no side bars to help keep him contained, though I'm not sure that would've helped, haha.

@mrbee: We were out to dinner one night when LO was tiny (about 2.5 months old) and she was in her car seat and it was on top of a highchair. Some how the high chair lost balance and the car seat fell off. THANK GOD the car seat landed right side up because LO wasn't strapped in. She screamed bloody murder because she was scared but she was completely fine. I was borderline hysterical. Thank God another sweet mom came up to me and pointed across the restaurant to her 16 year old son and say "See that boy right there? The same exact thing happened to him when he was tiny, and he turned out just fine!". Her words really calmed me down.

And of course this happened at The Palm. God Forbid we make a spectacle of ourselves at somewhere like Cracker Barrel, no, has to be The Palm.

Yup, just happened last week for the first time. To be fair it wasn't a real changing table, it was an ottoman with a pad on top (we were on vacation). She was kicking her legs and I turned around for one second and the whole pad slid off the ottoman. I caught her on her way down but her head grazed a concrete structure behind her and then the concrete wall. So scary :(

It was probably around the 3 week mark and I was just.so.tired. I was rocking him in the rocker and just passed out. I woke up when he rolled off my lap onto the carpeted floor. He wasn't even upset and I laughed about it right away.

But I still feel guilty about the 2 times he rolled off the bed while co-sleeping. Both were in the middle of the night and we were both dead asleep. Luckily I have a habit of dropping extra pillows next to my bedside so he never got hurt, but he was so upset both times.

But we always buckled him in the rock n play and I always keep my hand on him in the changer, so no accidents there yet.

Um, yes! Just the other day actually! Xander's 9.5 months and I was trying to change him, so he was up on the changing table, and he decided to roll over and take a dive for the floor! Luckily I still had a hand on him and I was able to swing my other arm under him to catch him, but he almost landed on his head!

I'm writing a post and was wondering if anyone had stories to share about their LO falling off of the changing table? Or falling out of a swing/rocker thing too... those can be tricky too!

Would love to hear how old your LO was as well, if possible...
