I just gave her a breathing treatment. Why does that machine have to be so loud??? Through some miracle she didn't wake up.

Her cough is getting worse but she isn't feverish and is minimally stuffy. I am counting my blessings there.

@wheres_c: hope he starts feeling better asap! Poor little one :(

@yellowbird: Hope your LO feels better soon and doesn't have asthma. My nephew had it at a young age (diagnosed at 3) but now at 10 years old, he doesn't appear to have asthma anymore.

Yes, at 3 months. She was hospitalized for 3 days because of it. She wasn't coughing, she was very stuffy and I got worried when after a few days of stuffiness she started spiking a fever and acting very lethargic. We were in France at the time and she was prescribed physical therapy to help clear her lungs, a week of daily treatments after we left the hospital.

That is crazy!
I am getting so paranoid about winter illnesses...flu/rsv and having a newborn in feb plus a toddler in daycare!

My LO tested positive for it yesterday, but they didn't offer any breathing treatments...just said we've got to wait it out.
He's the most miserable he's ever been. He's had a 102 degree fever and we spent NYE at the children's emergency room.
I wish there was something we could do for him. I feel so bad for him.

So I sympathize with you.

E had RSV when he was 7 months old, right before Christmas last year. He was on breathing treatments for a week and coughy/snotty, but otherwise fine. Our doctor never mentioned an increased risk of asthma though.

@ladybee: hope he's on the mend soon. It's so scary to have in the hospital but I know it was best and done as a precautionary measure in case his breathing got labored. When they are that little you can't take any chances!

My DS had RSV last year, before the age of 2. I think he was only..14 or 15 months. It ended up develping into pneumonia which was a bummer. He is doing ok now though.. he is kind of pre-asthmatic, but they haven't put him on any kind of regular treatments. He only gets breathing treatments for flare ups, like when he got croup recently, it was pretty bad. Hopefully your LO will bounce back well! Sorry she is sick :-(

DS caught RSV when he was 4 months old. You would have never guessed he had it because he was his happy old self. Just lots of snot/boogers and coughing induced by drainage. We did breathing treatments as well.

@Mamasig: we are in the hospital now with our lo who is 11 weeks old. Yesterday was day 5 and the worst. He doesn't have rsv but a different viral respiratory infection. We were told the same about asthma. Dh has it though so like you we already assumed. Its nice to know you haven't had other issues.

@Mamasig: I'm wondering how long she has had it. Hopefully we caught it early and the treatments will help her get over it. I'm off work the rest of the week and she doesn't have to go back to daycare until Tuesday.

My little boy had RSV at two months and was in the hospital for a day for monitoring. The doctor said around days 3-5 were the worst and it was true for us. Hope LO feels better soon.

I didn't know about the risk for asthma! I have asthma so I figure DS has a good chance of having it in the future too.

He's 15 months now and hasn't had any other respiratory problems.

We just got back from my LO's well visit. She's 16 months old. They were listening to her breathing and heard wheezing and did an rsv swab which came back immediately positive. They gave her a breathing treatment and want her to do them every 6 hours for 2 days and every 8 hours for two days. They gave an rx for a chest xray only of she gets worse. They said she's at risk for asthma now because she is positive for rsv before her second bday. :((((

I didn't even know she was sick. She's coughed a couple times but is otherwise her wild and crazy self.
