My DD is kind of the opposite. I get a ton of wax when I run a qtip very shallowly in her ears, but the ped always says they look great inside! DS, I never get anything. But they've never had formed pieces come out of their ears.

I had tubes in my ears as a kid and had a few saline flushes. It feels weird, but no big deal. I think some kids are just more prone to ear issues than others.

So glad E is feeling better!

Oh, I believe it was upsetting. I've had my ears cleaned out. Not being able to hear in one ear is enough to drive anyone batty, plus, the pressure of that gunk in your ear hurts!

DS has always had very gunky ears. I even bought an orthoscope to make sure it's only on the outside. So far, it hasn't been bad.

DH has had to have his ears flushed several times in his life, though.

E was really upset and crying constantly for the past week, I took her in for a check-up yesterday and she had boulders in her ears! I clean her ears every night in the bath with a wash cloth and warm water. This was BAD though, both ears were blocked. The ped said it might have been there long enough to effect her hearing. Our old ped didn't say anything about it at her last appt though.

Has your LO ever had this done? We couldn't see it just looking at her ears so we had no idea. DS would usually have a small amount fall out of his ear. Nothing like this though. They scraped her clean and she's been so much happier since. I can't believe it had such a big impact on her attitude!
