We don't have a TV, but from time to time DS gets to watch a French cartoon on the ipad called Trotro about a silly little boy donkey. He has learned TONS of phrases from it. I will sometimes hear him having a conversation, in French, with his toys and it's like the Trotro monologues.

Just a few lessons we have learned from Daniel Tiger -- potty, anger management, sharing, keep trying, try new foods, grown ups come back, cleaning up, and so much more.

I may have made several trips to Toys R Us to score the following toys...

She learned how to raise the roof from a hip hop dance segment on Angelina Ballerina. Very useful stuff!

But she has gotten much better at her ABCs through the Sesame Street segment with Elmo and India Arie.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: I've only seen a few of the Doc McStuffin episodes so I'm not tired of them *yet*. My son calls her Doctor McMuffin so he obviously doesn't watch it very often. And how cute about Tinkerbell! I think the Disney Fairies are way cuter than the Princesses! Although your Audrey Hepburn costume would have been FAB! Were you thinking of doing the Breakfast at Tiffany's one with the black dress, gloves, sunglasses and crown? Maybe you can do both!!

@banana: There haven't been a lot of new Doc McStuffins episodes on lately (I hate that I know this!) and we mostly watch them ondemand. It's the *same handful of episodes* all the time. I seriously got excited when they put out two new ones because at least it was something different.

She's also REALLY into Disney Fairies. We watch Tinkerbell on Netflix, too. She also foiled my awesome Halloween plans of making her Audrey Hepburn for Halloween -- she saw a Tinkerbell costume at TRU and I melted and bought it.

@mrs. wagon: Ugga mugga! :heart:

@Mrs. Jump Rope: The other one he likes is Doc McStuffins but he's not as into that one. I think he gets freaked out when some of the toys get seriously injured, like stuffing pouring out of their bellies or a button eye popping off. He covers his eyes and peeks through his fingers.

@Mrs. High Heels: Yeah, get on the Tiger bandwagon! I think N will love it! She's at a perfect age for it. You can do a blog post on it. hehe

Chloe LOVED the new foods episode. We're making a pizza for dinner tonight and she's off to the store with her papa to pick out some green peppers for a topping!

ETA: I don't consider myself a loser for letting her watch Daniel Tiger! It's one of the only kids programs I can stomach. I'm getting SO SICK of Sophia the First and Doc McStuffins. Chloe refused a nap today & I had to work, so I let her go to town on the iPad for an hour. Win-win!

@Danizaur: LOL! That's hilarious. Or kinda creepy I don't know.

@Raindrop: I'd consider that modern dance. :) My DD loves the Hot Dog dance too.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: I know! Now that you told me about Prince Wednesday I realized that his dad is King Friday! I don't always watch the shows with him so I wasn't paying attention. I remember Henrieta!! The daughter's name is Katerina (I think that's how it's spelled). Prince Tuesday always existed? I thought he was new! And THAT'S why he wears a wristwatch?? I always wondered why a toddler tiger (in my head Daniel's like 3 or 3 1/2) wore a wristwatch!

@mrs. wagon: We saw that one last night!! Seriously that's how I got him to wash his hands this morning.

@MamaBehr: Seriously those songs are super catchy! "Take a deep breath and count to four"... My son does the hand movements, too. Except he keeps counting to 10. We watched that one a few nights ago and he purposely stacked his blocks and knocked them down so that he can sing that song!

@banana @Mrs.JumpRope DANIEL TIGER POTTY TRAINED MY DAUGHTER!!! I love love love love that show. She has learned so much from that show, it is crazy. Last night she wanted to do some painting, but I was too exhausted to do it (we had just come home from a 2 week vacation where I flew with both of my LOs by myself) and she tried to get DH to do it. He said "I don't like arts and crafts, I'm not good at them." And she sang "keep trying, you'll get better" to him. So freakin' cute. And, if someone is angry she sings the "When you feel so mad, that you want to roar, take a deep breath ::takes deep breath:: and count to four." She has done this to me when I'm trying to put her in time out.... hahaha

Lala learned the sounds of all the letters from a short phonics video. So much easier to learn them in song format. She also picks up "The word of the day" from Sesame Street. Other than that, she doesn't get too much exposure.

Oh, but one viewing of "What does the fox say?" and she can sing the whole damn song! No wonder it's so viral.

@banana: OMG this kills me.

"The Daniel puppet seems to have a great fan following among the children who watch the program. When Daniel offered membership in his Tame Tiger Torganization (T.T.T.) on The Children's Corner, he was soon receiving 750 letters a day. Not long ago a very thoughtful present came for Daniel from a child who watched him often. The child explained in a letter that he had noticed Daniel's clock had no hands, so he was sending Daniel the most useful present he could think of -- a wristwatch."

@banana: Dude King Friday is in Daniel Tiger, too! Duh, its Prince Wednesday's DAD.

I did a few searches on Mr. Rogers last night. Queen Sara Saturday (named after his wife) is King Friday's wife!

I'm pretty sure all that characters on the show are the "kids" of the original characters. I hope I'm not wrong... I love pretending that they are!

O the Owl is X the Owls kid, the cat (drawing a blank on her name!!!! meow meow....) is Henrieta's daughter. I thought Prince Tuesday was King Friday's son.

I just did a quick google search -- looks my theory is wrong?!
According to this site, Prince Tuesday always existed. Crap.
