DS gives high fives, but doesn't do the other things yet. I think I don't shake my head or wave byebye a lot, so he hasn't really seen it consistently.

She is just waving now. When someone says bye bye she waves one or both hands. I've been trying to sign with her but fail to be consistent. Nothing else except that maybe she can imitate wiping the floor?!

DD waves hello and goodbye and will point to the light and the sky when prompted, but that's it. She doesn't seem anywhere near shaking her head or clapping. She still seems to be pointing at everything without meaning. I wouldn't stress

@wheres_c: I wouldn't worry. DD wasn't a head shaker and didn't start waving until she was past 10 months old. I never waved at her, so she didn't learn to! :)
DS doesn't shake his head because we never shake our heads.
He flaps his arms around and claps with his feet!

LO was born 12/24. She waves and claps, doesn't really point or shake her head yet. She says mama and dad but saves mama for when she's mad.

We talked about this and you know I think B is fine! I would just model whatever you want to focus on him picking up a lot and see if he starts doing it - I didn't even realize I shook my head for no so much until A started doing it every time I would. They love to imitate us.

A started waving/high fiving around 7 months, clapping around 8 months, shaking her head no at 9.5 months (she will do it even if she just hears the word no). She hasn't pointed. I have been teaching her "I don't know" (where she puts her hands face up by her shoulders) this week, and she picked that up quickly. Of course she still doesn't have any words.

My son didnt start waving pointing or shaking his head no until very recently and he is 13 months. I wouldn't be worried.

She just recently (maybe the last two weeks) started shaking her head no. She waves 'bye' sometimes, not consistently. I don't know what the norm is but I'm pretty sure my niece was doing way more by 9 months and I don't worry that my LO is "behind". I think it will happen eventually (:

My lo was born 12/15 ... She just started clapping with open hands two weeks ago after clapping with fists for a while. We are trying to teach her to wave, and sometimes it looks like she's starting to, but I wouldn't call it consistent at all. She definitely shakes her head no when she's done eating! It's cute. I wouldn't worry though ... Communication comes at different rates (and technically those are all.ways of communicating :))
