I let my toddler play in all the baby things and so far nothing has broken. She LOVES getting into all the contraptions!

No, but the baby broke one of the toddler's toys. It was my fault though, I should remember she has a habit of dropping things off her high chair!

@Foodnerd81: yes- ours is on its 4th baby, so I can't really expect much. We replaced the motor on it when K was 3 months old, so it definitely served its time.

@Cherrybee: c has been pretty good about not messing with the clothes, and she does take off with burp cloths but will also bring me one if I forget it when I sit down to feed the baby, so that's actually helpful (and since she takes off with them all the time there is always one on the floor that she can reach...) But the pacifier drives me insane- she is always walking off with it and then we can't find it when the baby needs it, plus I wash it a thousand times a day. And we currently only have one so its an issue. (Note- buy more pacifiers now).

I'm worried about this too! Especially when I bust out his favorite bouncer/chair (the Baby Bjorn Sitter/Balancer) for DD.

Agh, E is driving me mad at the moment with her interfering with the baby things. I haven't baby proofed the nursery drawers (yet) and, this morning, she took out a load of baby onsies and scattered them about. Then she took off with the nappy cream. I don't want her to associate the baby's things with being told off - but my beautiful washed, ironed, perfectly folded onsies! Is nothing sacred?

So just to say, I sympathise. I haven't even brought out the breakables yet.

So far she hasn't broken anything, but not from lack of trying! She's obsessed with the baby's bouncer chair, the Rock n Play, and the crib mobile--LO1 will climb INTO the baby's crib (that is dangerous enough on it's own), and then mess with the motorized mobile and try to stop it. I'm sure it will be broken soon. But like you, I don't fight every battle. I mean, at least if she's in the crib messing with the mobile, she's contained while I go make myself coffee, you know?

@Mrs. Oatmeal: well this swing we have has been handed down through two swing hating babies already. The new baby is the first who even tolerates it- so it would be ironic if that's how it got broken!

Our swing. She didn't break it by climbing into it, but she kept stopping it to kiss her brother, or swinging her babies in it, and the motor burned out.

My 2.5 year old is obsessed with climbing into the baby's things- especially the swing these days (figures- she hated the swing as a baby). The weight limit on all these things is usually 25 lbs or less, and she weighs almost 30 lbs. anything she would get hurt if it broke, I stop, or if it's super essential, like the rock and play.

Everything else I just cross my fingers that the weight limit is conservative. I cant fight every battle.
