@NovBaby1112: thanks! Yeah, I need to do some research...I was worried about that with the net. i guess Ikea makes an canopy that I've heard might work, but I need to look into it.. I was thinking we'd need to build a platform or something to raise the matress about 2"...maybe I should try to find the tutorial you saw!

@NovBaby1112: I would do the same! Lately I have to hold/rock DD until she falls asleep so 15-30 min of snuggling sounds much better!

@dolphin: welllll let's just say I lay with her in her bed until she goes to sleep, bc she would scream and bang on the door all night if I left. But I'm used to it now and am enjoying the snuggles! The first 2 weeks were tough but now things are much better and she usually falls asleep in 15-30 minutes.

@Mrs. Lion: yes mines too! Practice over and over. Today I put her in the crib for nap time and she sticks her leg over the rail right in front of me. I yelled at her NO and she kept doing it over and over again! It's all over. Good luck with your transition!

@NovBaby1112: I am dreading transitioning her out of crib! I have a feeling she's gonna jump out of bed and start banging on the door to let her out!! Actually I'm pretty sure that's what she's gonna do. How did your LO deal with the transition?

Yup! She did it once when she was a little over 2, and I think it scared her enough that she didn't try again until last month when she was almost 2.5. The "thump" was the worst sound ever - I swear I almost had a heart attack!

We ended up taking off one side of the crib and putting up crib rails.

@dolphin: mine hasn't figured this out yet, but i know once he does it once it is all over....with any new skill he gains he practices it over and over and over and over....he wont sleep again until he perfects his craft haha ;) we are building an addition to the house right now and as soon as its done in a couple weeks we are moving him to a floor bed in his new room. I am going to leave the new room completely empty except for a rug and his bed and put a gate at the door....and pray the transition goes well! Lo will be 17' months.

@dolphin: my LO hasn't fallen out, but was close to falling. i caught her on the monitor right before she was about to fall and caught her in time. This was around 19months too. After that one time, she could pretty much get out in seconds after that so I transitioned her to a floor bed as I was too nervous about her climbing out and falling at night. It was way earlier than I wanted and it def sucked for a few weeks getting her used to her bed. @78h2o: just FYI... Those crib tent thingys were recalled bc of strangulation hazards or something... Figured that out during my research to try and keep my LO in her crib! I also tried lowering mattress all the way to ground but there was too large of a gap between mattress and sides, so she could have gotten body parts stuck. I saw a tutorial online about building a platform w wood so there was no space, but neither me or dh is handy lol.

@78h2o: ack! My LO is 13 months old but 31.5" already. She's also fearless and will dive head first off the couch. Tall girls!

@78h2o: wow your LO is tall! My LO is 19 months 33.5". The thing is she has never even TRIED to climb out of the crib before so was shocked she did it with success. After I soothed her and put her back down she woke up an hour later and tried to climb out AGAIN! We saw on our monitor she put one leg over the rail and DH ran up the stairs and caught her in time. Phew! Now I'm starting to think I need to transition her to a toddler bed even though I'm not ready!

@CupQuakeWalk: I know! I'm not ready to transition her to toddler bed either. I'm pretty sure she's NOT going to stay in bed. Hope your LO doesn't try to dive out!

@78h2o: you're genius! We really don't want to transition LO (22m) into a toddler bed yet, so I think putting the mattress on the floor without the sprigy thing is buying good time.

Aww! I'm sorry, mama! Kids are so silly sometimes and it kills me to see them accidentally hurt themselves like that:( our has never done this, but it is close coming. I just seriously don't have the time or metal capacity this month to transition him into a toddler bed, so I hope he holds off on the diving for a month or two...

Aww! I'm sorry!

Mine fell out last week. I've seen her throw a leg up before and act like she was going to climb out, but I didn't think she could do it in a sleep sack. I need to figure something out ASAP... debating between taking the mattress all the way down to the floor (taking out the wire mesh thing that holds up the mattress) or getting some kind of canopy (Ikea maybe)?? I really am not ready to deal with the transition to a toddler bed. She's only 19 mo, but 37".

@swedishfish: @twoofeverything: ^^^ yeah, I though the sleep sack would keep her in, but apparently not!

:( we haven't had that yet, but I did the exact same thing with DD (20 mos) when she was having a tantrum this morning, and she had one leg over the side when I came back in. I knew I loved sleep sacks.

R hasn't but she still wears sleep sacks so she hasn't been able to attempt to climb out yet.

Mine just did. DD was throwing a big tantrum before bed so I put her in the crib and walked out of the room. I heard the loudest THUMP and I ran back into the room. She was on the floor crying hysterically with snot running down her nose. I feel SO AWFUL. :(
