@blackbird: He was just sitting there banging on his piano. I guess she doesn't like his music!

I wouldn't call our cat hateful, but he bites a lot. He especially bites if someone tries to pet him the "wrong" way. I wish I could make him stop biting me, so naturally I'm concerned when we have a little one. No advice, but good luck!

Was she trying to play with the baby maybe? Did the baby have anything in his hand? Sometimes mine will give LO a stalker-ish look when she has a toy and is shaking it around. Sometimes i have to wave my hand to break their glare.

@boiledpnut: I bet she sees your LO as being more similar to another cat or dog than a smaller version of you. Adult people control the food supply and are thus deserving of something like respect..."human kittens" are just messy things that steal your time and attention away! I wish it wasn't so hard to deal with naughty cats, though -- dogs are a lot easier because they want to keep their people happy, cats just figure the food isn't going to stop coming regardless of what they do so who gives a flying foo.

She swats at our dog and other cat, but she's never done it to us. I'm definitely going to keep an eye on her when she's around DS.

My cat does this to the dog. I just plan on watching her and keeping her away from the baby if she seems crabby.

Our cat does this sometimes (to us, our LO isn't here yet) but he's not usually being hateful. It's usually just that he's feeling neglected and wants to play. He used to do it to my parents' dog and WAS being mean, though. Maybe your cat doesn't see your baby as a "person" deserving of the same treatment adult people are, or maybe he's just feeling lonely? I think the best you can do is scold the cat or put him in time-out when he's like that, and try to keep them separated if you're not there to run interference.

My cat usually loves my DS but he did this one. I just kinda shooed him away and told the cat no. I just watch my cat when he is around. If he is in a good mood I let them play. If he is crabby I don't. Not really sure what else to do either! It hasn't happened again though.

One of our cats came up to DS today and started swatting at him. DS was playing, minding his own business. His hand got a little scratch on it, but it wasn't too bad. It was so random, I'm not even sure what to think! Have any of you had to deal with a hateful pet? How did you handle it?
