I didn't think about it that much growing up. I was very focused on school and extra-curriculars. I met DH at 18, got engaged at 19 and we both felt like our life together wouldn't be complete without kids. </p> <p>But it was certainly not a crazy burning desire all my life. Just after we got married :)</p> <p>FWIW, I've never enjoyed other people's kids that much. My best friends' kids are cool but beyond that, I'm not really into it. I didn't want kids until I met DH. He was pretty ambivalent towards the thought of kids so I don't know what changed my mind. It's changed throughout my life. I don't even really like other peoples' kids that much. I'm MORE than happy to hand them back, ya know? They scream, they're annoying, they're ill behaved....blah. I NEVER wanted children before I met DH (and I didn't meet him until I was 31). Once we were serious, I felt like I could go either way, but knew that if he wanted to have a baby, then I would be good with that too. I was 35 when we got married, and once we decided that we did want children, we started trying right away.
