I was to blame - he went away and I "liked" another guy. Things didn't work out with the other guy, and I actually didn't run into hubs in the halls out entire junior year. I had completely forgotten about him until I ran into him part way into senior year and, well, my eyes glazed over and I totally had a major crush on him again!!! I purposely walked that same hallway at the same time every day to try to run into him. On days that I did see him, I was floating on cloud nine! After a few times he began walking me to my next class. A few weeks of that and then he asked me to a movie on Christmas Eve! We watched Green Mile and I will never forget that date. I was super nervous and we did the awkward hand hold (so high school!). A few days later he invited me to his NYE party since his parents were away. It was a whole group of his friends and he kissed me when the ball dropped. Everything else, as they say, is history. Rob Sr. and I have been together since January 2003 and have never broken up. I attribute this to us being long distance for the first 6 months, for our last semester of senior year of college (him in Ithaca, NY, me in Boston, MA) and that was TORTURE. I hated every minute of it, but it forced our relationship to be based on real stuff instead of physical attraction, convenience, etc. It's the first time I was ever in a relationship with a guy for more than a month! After a year of being together long distance, he was starting his Masters and working fulltime and we had several conversation about how "he wasn't sure he could put as much time and energy into the relationship as he wanted." Which I was not ready for seeing as I was still fighting desperatly to get divorced from my abusive ex husband. I just wasnt ready. DH was everything I wished I had in my first marriage and that scared me, just was not ready. He was an amazing friend helping me get through my divorce more than anyone he understood what I was going through. But when it got more serious between us it was just too much at that time. We split for three months. Then one day I woke up and just ached with how much I missed him despite how terrified I was of putting my heart back out there. We got back together, my divorce finally went through. The attraction was there though, definitely. After graduation, we went our separate ways... off to different colleges, etc. We had zero contact with each other right after high school. This was pre-email, google, etc. We only had a few mutual friends and i lost contact with them too. Never thought I'd hear from him again. So that was our break-up.</p> <p>But 7 years later in 2003, he google'd me... and although I was in SF and he was in NYC, we connected and started seeing each other again. We were engaged very soon after and married in 2005. Our hs relationship and our adult relationship are completely separate beings though.
