I have been going since 5 months, even though we didn't have many issues. Now that P is 14 months I like to give some normalcy to toddler breastfeeding. I love my LLL friends and I actually like having the experience going from a pregnant FTM just absorbing as much as possible to a new mom asking a bazillion questions to a seasoned breastfeeder sharing my experiences. I did go to a BFing support group put on by my hospital (it's designated baby friendly) after LO arrived though that was fantastic! It wasn't solely breastfeeding support but there were lactation consultants there to answer questions and offer support. I'm really glad I went. It was actually my gateway into nursing in public. It was a judgement free zone and there were people willing to help us get positioned comfortably. It helped me realize how easy it was to get LO into a nursing position someplace other than our couch and it helped me work on different strategies for coverage (and to see that there wasn't really much exposed). </p> <p>I highly recommend going to some kind of group to talk to people who are "in the trenches" and experiencing what you're experiencing. I found that even friends with toddlers have forgotten what those early days are like. The first time I went, it was in the middle of LO's six week growth spurt and I was convinced LO hated me. I am super shy but I wanted to get out of the house, and bf'ing has been a huge challenge for us. </p> <p>It was awesome! The meeting topic was common problems and difficulties with breastfeeding, so it was exactly what I needed. Afterward an LC stayed and helped me work on latching. I'm so happy I went! </p> <p>Have you attended? What was your experience? </p>
