We have been on 3. All over Christmas. Loved them!! We got engaged on our second and our honeymoon was our third. We have never done an all inclusive and have said our next vacation will be one but will for sure do cruises when we have kids in the future. My advice is shop around on the cruise lines. They are all different and are suited more for different lifestyles and groups. We have done NCL and carnival. Prefer NCL personally.

I went on one with my family when I was 19 and I didn't enjoy it. The only activities on the boat (Carnival) were geared toward adults who could drink and gamble or little kids up to maybe middle school. There was NOTHING for people in between, and they even kicked us out of the dance floor (as an aside, we were the only ones there, and we weren't trying to get away with anything, just to be not completely bored). They were incredibly rude and I will never take another Carnival cruise on principle. Now that I'm an adult, I'd consider cruising on a different line, but it's definitely not tops on my list of things to do. And DH refuses, so that makes it easy not to!

We've been on many cruises, and live near a port city so we usually book a last minute (2 weeks in advance or less) cruise for a long weekend getaway. I agree with some of the pp's in that you don't get a chance to really explore or immerse yourself in an lot of culture off the ship, but we love it just for the quick, fun filled, all inclusive long weekend. We actually rarely leave the ship, especially in some of the smaller islands in the Bahamas.

I'd love to do a European cruise and an Alaskan one though!

We have been on 3 and they were all great. Cruises are fun, hassele-free, relaxing vacations. If you enjoy planning and are looking for culture immersion, then you won't like it. We haven't taken the kids yet, but definitely will in the future. Probably a Disney cruise!

i've been on a few. the last one DH & i both got sick with a terrible virus, so wasn't that great. we pretty much stayed in our cabin for 5 of the days :( . i'm looking into booking another one soon. it's cheap & easy and with DH's appetite, the food alone covers the cost of the cruise, haha.

I love cruising. My parents were big cruisers, so I've been on 7 so far and can't wait until the kids are old enough to make their fare worth it. :) I like that you can see a bunch of different places but not feel like you're traveling from place to place. You're sleeping in one room the whole time. If I wanted to get more sightseeing or culture immersion in (say in Italy or Japan), then I'd plan a traditional vacation instead.

We went on a European cruse with Holland America and it was awesome!! Everything was really top quality: the food, the drinks, the service, the activities, the spa....just everything. We plan to cruise with Holland America again, and also go on Disney Cruises and I want to go on a Viking River Cruise when LO gets a little bit older. I don't know if I'd go on other brands though, some seem a little sketchier quality-wise.

I've been on only one. It was fun, but there's definitely pluses and minuses to cruising. On the up side, there was tons to do, endless food, and great pools/hot tubs/spa, etc. For the not so good, the food can be very meh. The location we went to I would NOT recommend - Nassau, Bahamas. You also don't get immersed in as much culture as you might like (if you were to do a Mediterranean one, for example) because you spend the day in the port city, but then at night you're back on the ship. So less meals on shore, less soaking in atmosphere. But it can be really cool to wake up in a new foreign city every day for a week.

I was watching something on Disney cruises and I'd really like to do one in a few years. It looked like it had great stuff for kids, and plenty of adult only stuff. I'd really like to do Eastern Caribbean next time.

I've been on one - it was so-so. I liked being able to see a lot of different areas in a short period of time, but I get sea sick really easily and I felt woozy for a lot of the time at sea. My parents have cruised several times though and they said that boat was the only one they could ever feel move, so maybe I just had a rough ride.

I went on a cruise for my honeymoon - it was awesome to be able to visit all of the places and not have to move my stuff around. Plus, the food was AMAZING.

For mamas, I went on a Disney cruise (and I didn't have kids!). It was great. Every kid had a GPS bracelet, and they had childcare available from pretty much 7 am - midnight. We did the later dinner, and rarely saw many kids.

I love it-- it's an easy way to see a bunch of places in a short amount of time, nice to know that everything is included, only have to unpack once, and it's fun being on the ship. I've gone on 2-3 cruises with my mom, and 2 with the hubs (including our honeymoon). I'd do it again with LO, but we need to get her a passport, plus most cruiselines charge full fare for babies!

But, if we were going somewhere we'd want to explore (like Hawaii), we would go on a traditional vacation.

I've been on one cruise, before babies, with a close couple friend, and it was AWESOME. We had an amazing, amazing time. I would love to go again, but I wouldn't want to take the kids, and not being available to get home quickly in case of an emergency is not ideal for me...!! So I think I'd rather go to a resort than be on a cruise ship.
