Neither. I've lived abroad for the past few years, so there really isn't much of anything going on friend-wise. My close childhood friends all have their families and kids, coupled with the time difference, it's been hard to keep in touch other than FB. We catch up every once in awhile and all is good, but it's more like keeping touch with old relatives.

I'm a godmother to their children and they are to my DD, so we'll always have our kiddos to help tie things together. But really, we've all been friends for so long, they're like family to me. At the same time, you don't always have to keep in touch with family ...

A bit disappointed as many of my friends have abandoned me since we're at different points in our lives. I'm still the only one with kids, and they don't know how to approach me. Everyone assumes I don't want to hang out with them, but I would love to get out of the house.

Of course my BFF is the one who surprises me with her thoughtfulness and constant care. She talks to me daily and gets me through the hard times. With both kids, she is so willing to give her time and help me.

Both. I've had some good friendships turn sour, which always hurts. But others have seemed to stand the test of time, so far. I would love to meet some new friends though, as most of mine are scattered throughout the city and the country. It'd be great for DH and I to meet some "couple" friends but it's so hard to do at this age!

Both.

A very close friend of 17 years dumped me (and a bunch of our other friends) a couple of years ago and that was pretty hard. There are some times that I think about her and I get so angry and bitter and other times that I think I might be open to reconnecting in the future (she reached out to me).

What I learned from that is that sometimes people aren't meant to be in our life for the long haul and that's okay. I have also been surprised by the depth of some of my friendships and some of the people who have supported me when I needed it were people I underestimated. I have great friendships and am building new ones, which I love. I love to meet new people!

Definitely surprised. I wasn't very good at making quality friends when I was younger so I was constantly disappointed. But in the last 8 years or so I have made some amazingly awesome friends who constantly surprise me by their awesomeness. I've had friends fly cross country for my wedding and now my baby shower. Drive me hours away when random emergencies happen. Offer to come hang out with my sick cat when I can't be there so I don't stress. I think I finally found my life long friends.

For me, I've been both pleasantly surprised and disappointed in equal measure! Overall though, I prefer to live in a world where friendships are a good thing. :) So I'm sure I see friendships through rose-colored glasses.
