@ladybee: yeah, I am a bit crunchy so I don't love the idea of pumping my body full of fertility drugs but I want a baby more!

@mrs. bird: I'm just SO tired and in a bit of a mood. Very hard to teach.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: I hope it jumpstarts things for me like it did for you!

I took it on the cycle I got pregnant with Chloe.

I took one pill for 10 days. It took an additional 10 days for me to actually get a period!

My dr gives provera if your cycle hits 80 days & you take a pregnancy test. She does 2 pills for 5 days I think. I was an exhausted raving looney with terrible skin, my body was not pleased. I started bleeding almost 2 weeks after, she said 2 weeks was the longest it should take. I've heard natural progesterone is easier on your system, but I haven't used it.

@LindsayInNYC: I definitely think you still have time for AF to come naturally seeing you O'd so late.
@Pirouette: that's great that it kickstarted regular cycles for you - hope it does the same for me!

i've taken provera in the past, when i wasn't TTC. i took one a day for 10 days and AF came almost immediately, after over a year without it. and the month after provera, my cycle returned like clockwork. i think i just needed that kickstart!

ETA: no side effects that i can recall. and i was a little terrified about taking it, but it wasn't bad at all.

I'm wondering at what point to call my ob/gyn... My friend is convinced I need Provera but isn't that for when you don't ovulate? I'm fairly certain based on my chart that I ovulated. Today is CD60, 11DPO. If I have a "normal" LP, I should get my period some time towards the end of this week. If not, I think I might call...

@KT326: thanks - I'm aware of the ovulation issue. I had a really weird non-period (24 hours of spotting) and then nothing since and I feel like I'm swelling up like a balloon. I'm hoping the progesterone does it's work as I was more regular straight after coming off bcp. I did O around 7 weeks ago so I know I'm occasionally Oing, just not with any regularity it seems.

@ladybee: that's definitely the next step for us. I have diagnosed PCOS but in the NZ system, they will only refer you after six months. So if I don't o next month, we get our referral and we move to an RE.

@SweetMamaM: maybe you should look into an RE. My first 2 cycles off BC were perfect 32 day cycles. Then we got pregnant, mc'd and then my cycles then got longer and longer. I was diagnosed with mild PCOS by my OB and given clomid. My RE switched to Femara due to side effects and we got our BFP on our third medicated cycle.

I took one pill a day for 10 days. The first time it took around 4 days after finishing the pills to get my period, the second time it took 7 days. The first time I took it my period was extremely heavy but that was due to the fact that I hadn't had one in two years so my lining was very thick.

Oh and technically provera won't actually help you get pregnant since it does nothing for ovulation. It just makes you shed your uterine lining. So if there are underlying ovulation issues, it won't help with that.

@ladybee: second really long cycle, they were consistent when I first came off the pill but then went mental as soon as we started trying... Wish we'd just started trying straight away.
Last cycle I finally got AF at CD75. Well, unless the 24 hours I had on CD 28 of this cycle was an AF, in which case I'm at around CD 35 now. No recent o according to blood test though so safe to take the provera.

I took Provera for 10 days and got my period on the fourth day after finishing the pills. Provera made me ovulate (we think). I happened to go to my first RE appointment the day I finished my Provera period and he said he saw a follicle about to ovulate. However, my lining was much too thin to sustain a healthy pregnancy at that time due to my period just finishing. The Provera ended an 80 day cycle for me and was prescribed by my former OBGYN's office but I ended up starting Clomid a couple of months later with my RE. The Provera was taken in April 2012 and I became pregnant through IVF in September 2012. Good luck!

I have 40-50 day cycles and my dr wanted me to take it each month from day 16-25 (10 pills) to get my cycle regulated. I just took it one cycle because I got pissed knowing that with my body, I'd never ovulate before day 16 and I'd never have any chances. That one cycle, I think AF came around day 8 of taking the pills.

My body is so crazy though. I ended up taking vitex the next few cycles and it shortened them to where I ovulated on day 27 and then day 20. Thennn, I went back to ovulating on day 31 last cycle, but I got a BFP!

@SweetMamaM: I think I took 1 pill a day of 5 days. The first time I got AF on day 2, the second time I got AF 3 days after finishing. I didn't use it while ttc so I can't answer the pregnancy question. Due to my wonky cycles I was out on Clomid when ttc. The only side effect I had was a heavier (and more painful) period.

I did when I was TTC ds. I only takes about 2-3 days for it to jump start your period...but I honestly can't remember how much I took. I did make me have heavier, shorter periods. I concieved ds on the third cycle of provera and clomid. They had to keep upping my clomid until it made me ovulate.

Just was prescribed Provera by my doctor as my period is currently AWOL and I'm curious as to other people's experience on the medication.
1. How many pills did you have to take?
2. Did you have any side effects?
3. How quickly did you get AF?
4. Did it help you to get pregnant in the next or subsequent cycles?

Thanks so much in advance!
