once, was going on a cruise the left from there. got there a day early, so i wasn't there long. could have just been a bad day or where we were, but it seemed dirty & there were a lot of dogs that looked like they were starving everywhere. the market the guide took us to had people having sex on everything (not actual people, but the decorations on things)- like, a beach towel but with a picture of naked ppl on it, or carvings of people gettin it on. i'm fine with nudity, but it just seemed gratuitous, why would i need a pipe that looks like a boner?? i can think of a lot of other places i'd like to visit again before i'd choose to go back, i know other people who have really enjoyed themselves though, so maybe i just didn't have the best experience. there were some beaches that looked lovely.

I've been, on a ship but not with a LO. Old San Juan was pretty nice. Next time I'll fly in, one day wasn't long enough to enjoy it.

I've been to PR once, no LO though. DH and I stayed in Old San Juan and didn't have any safety issues or concerns there. It's where all the cruise ships come in/out of.

I've been to PR twice, but never with a LO... so I'm not sure if there's a lot of family friendly things to do there. I've got a lot of recommendations though for fun things to try, like the rainforest, biobay tours, visits to Viaques and Culebra..
Good luck with planning!

We were in PR last September and it has a lot to offer - just be aware that September is prime storm season (it rained half of the time we were there), some of the hotels have a heavy party emphasis, Old San Juan is not very safe, and most of the restaurants are NOT kid friendly. But the beaches are lovely and the food is great!

with LO? Our first family vacation was to Cancun and we had a blast!!! Trying to plan our second family vacation and wondering if Puerto Rico is a good option to take a 20 month old in September. Have you been??
