Nope, I didn't escape it. I wasn't blessed by the sleep gods and the method that we were using just wasn't sustainable in that it took longer and longer to fall asleep, we had more wake ups in the night, etc, etc.

So, we sleep trained. 3 times.

@sorrycharlie: This exactly. The few times we have tried to let M cry she just escalates until she's hysterical. I would never win the battle of wills.

We didn't do it- LO is 19 months and sleeps beautifully. We nursed to sleep, I held and rocked her, there were very hard times, many long wake ups in the night, but it wasn't in me to let her cry, so I just did what felt natural and stopped reading all the books. We essentially broke all the "rules" and she goes to bed without a problem, awake, and no need for a bottle or rocking. Every kid and every parent is different, so you just have to do what works for you!

Yep! It isn't for our family. My toddler generally sleeps well, and now that we've put a little heater in her room, she sleeps very well. When she doesn't, my husband goes down and snuggles her back to sleep. No big issues.

We haven't sleep trained, we enjoy our crazy unpredictable family bed situation as of now (5.5 months)! I have to admit that our baby is a fairly good sleeper, so that affects things.

We have, but we bed share. LO had a slight sleep regression right before she hit four months, and I considered transferring her, to ensure better rest. But, her disruptions were short lived, and we continue to co-sleep, pretty happily. We have no intention to sleep train; she's a fantastic sleeper, as is.

We haven't sleep trained LO; although at 17 months I still rock her to sleep and we co-sleep so there are issues with whatever you do. She has her routine down and I generally don't need to rock her for more than about 10 minutes before she is *out* for the night. Since she STTN, I figure, if it ain't broke, don't fix it! :)

We haven't sleep trained, but I wouldn't say we have avoided it because his sleep is crap. However he has had a constant ear infection for the last four months so we really hesitate to let him cry it out. At 8 1/2 months, he still wakes up 3 to 4 times a night. But poor baby is in pain....

Not yet! I'm not against sleep training at all, it just hasn't been necessary. She started sleeping longer on her own, and she wakes up once at night every few days, but I'll take it!

I hope not to sleep train. I am tired, no lie! LO doesn't go down at night until late (even in utero) when husband goes to sleep, and she wakes 5 or 6 times still and does not nap. I *think/hope/pray* that if I can still survive all of that at almost 6 months... hopefully I can keep surviving and eventually it will only get easier. I really am dedicated to bending around her sleep and just using my intuition. No judgement through! I am home with LO so I can imagine that might play a role in another mom's choice.

We let her CIO one night when nothing else was helping anyway. It was awful, though she never full out cried more than ten minutes at a time (cry, calm, whimper, cry, repeat). Since then we put her to bed awake and she usually just fusses for a few minutes and falls asleep. So kind of a quickly sleep training.

However naps and staying asleep are still issues. Since she responded pretty well to our impromptu training, I hope she will respond to nap training well too, if it comes to that.

I tried one night and it was terrible! she cried til she threw up (she was older-ish, past 6 months, memory is hazy..).

we haven't since. she woke anywhere from 2-6x a night til she started STTN on her own around 11 months, caught a cold, and went back to 2-3 wakeups a night..then when she got better, she started STTN again. I waited a long time for this victory!! lol.
