I've done this, but our room is next door so the volume is REALLY not necessary.

@MamaBehr: My cat has woken me up upon hearing DS at night or in the morning...even now that he's older. It's like she's saying, "get up and do something about this!"

I've done this several times... I call it accidental CIO. He's never hated me for it, and I got some good sleep that was obviously needed. I always feel super guilty though.

I have accidently done this more than once! Another thing that our monitor has done was "lost signal" in the middle of the night, so it is basically useless. Fortunately this is the monitor for our 3 year old, and she doesn't need as much attention at night.

One time, for our three year old, the monitor wasn't working and our DOG woke us up because he heard her freaking out! It was kind of cool! (well the dog part, not the non-working monitor and freaking out kid)

Honestly, if she really had been screaming, you would have heard her! Don't feel bad at all!

Omg you guys i feel horrible!!! LO has been having a rough couple nights in the sleep dept. I nursed her around 11:30pm and I heard her crying on the monitor again around 1am. I turned the volume all the way down to not disturb my DH and give her 10 minutes to see if she would go back to sleep on her own. Well, I must have been exhausted because I must have passed right out and didn't wake up until 5:30am! I had a panic attack when I saw the clock and realized the volume was down. She is almost 8 months so I know she can go that long without eating, but I just feel AWFUL. I have no clue how long she was crying or how many times she had woken up crying for mommy and must have been wondering where I was :( I was totally late for work today because I waited for her to wake up to give her kisses and make sure she didn't hate me lol. please tell me I am not the only one who has done this!
