I don't recall how old your LO is, but I would put DS in the bouncy seat right after he nursed and sit on the couch to pump (using a pumping bra). Our bouncer was a hand me down and no longer vibrated so I bounced him with my foot.

I pumped after every single feeding for the first 3 weeks of LOs life. It was torture :) It wasn't something I could ever keep up long term.

The best thing for me was to make sure to pump OR nurse at least 8x a day while establishing supply.

Nowadays, I do a power pump in the evenings (pump for 10 mins, rest for 10, etc. for an hour) if I want to try to boost things. And avoid skipping sessions if possible (we supplement so that is why I would be able to skip)

My LC only ever had me do a "power pump" once per day. (It was something like 10 minutes on, five minutes rest, and continue like that for a full hour.) I was also only getting drops, and I never really progressed beyond that point. I ultimately had to give up on breastfeeding. I hope you have better luck than I did!

i didn't do a marathon pump but I exculsively pumped for my twins and I would pump after every feeding. If they were awake i often had them in the bouncer seat while they were little or tummy time. I also used a hospital grade pumped that I rented first from the hospital and then from my lc. I think it made a difference.

@maybebaby: Yep, that's exactly what I did! Good luck to you! Pumping after every feeding sucks, especially when you're just getting drops out, but hopefully it will help boost your supply and you'll soon be getting more out!

@Adira: I do have the bra, that is a good idea, I can just set the pump up elsewhere where I can hang out with him. I will try with the activity mat!

I basically did this when I first started pumping to try to build a stash. I wasn't told to do a pumping marathon, but your description sounds like what I did. Do you have a hands-free pumping bra that you can use? I would just put Xander on his activity mat and just sit on the floor next to him and pump so that I could still be near him if he needed me. It sucks, but I do feel like it helped my supply.

I pretty much did this with my twins. What helped me more was power pumping...on for 10 and off for 10 alternating for an hour. But you def need help with lo to do it!

I am fearful that I am not producing enough milk for my baby. We have been supplementing with formula and pumped breastmilk, but even when I pump I barely get anything. I never had heard that when you pump streams of milk should come out--I realize I never have the streams, just little droplets. I put in a call to my LC to see if she thought I could have true supply issues, and she suggested a pumping marathon--for 2 days, pump for 10 minutes (both sides) after EVERY feed. I am exhausted just thinking about the logistics (how do I entertain LO every time I pump!? I can barely fit in 2-3 sessions a day).

Have you ever done a pumping marathon? Any tips? Did it help?
