I would have no problem buying it. It usually ends up there one of a few ways: Product overage (end of shelf life, or too much of the wrong thing was produced). Grocery stores typically require six months shelf life. If you have a lot of product with 5 months left you can only sell to dollar stores. Designed for $ store market - cheaper packaging, slightly lower grade product. Rougher cut fruit in canned or frozen fruit for example. Test item that did not do well - sometimes you see random flavors at the dollar store that you'll never find in grocery. These are products from scale-up runs. Didn't meet product standards for some small reason - incorrect date codes, sloppy labels, old labels. Typically these are cosmetic reasons that don't have anything to do with the product itself. They had Jennie-O turkey burgers (1/3 lb) for $1!!! Not sure about you but turkey is $6/lb here so half price! I picked up a few to try. Then I saw the frozen fruit - again its around $3 a bag and there $1! So I grabbed strawberries, blackberries, and pineapple. I must admit I am kinda like "hmmmm.... whats wrong with it that it would be sold at the $ store for so cheap!!!" Have you ever bought food there?
