I dropped my son when he was about 3 -4 months old. I got out of our bed with him and there was a box of wipes on the floor and tripped and fell forward. He didn't fall out of my arms until I was like a foot from the ground, so he didn't end up falling too far on his own. I was still traumatized though! I always worry I'm going to drop him or slip when I go down the stairs too.

I'm not even gonna go there... let's just say that RJ has had a few pretty rough falls and he's totally fine. Kids are like Wolverine-- their wounds heal so fast. I bet a lot of people aren't going to comment on this thread because they don't want to admit to / re-live the traumatizing experience!

Never dropped her, but my daughter rolled off a beanbag chair prop thing that our photographer was using at her 4 month photos.

Nearly year ago on halloween, as my husband was walking down the steps of someone's front porch while trick or treating, he slipped onto his butt and launched our son onto the ground. Luckily, our son was launched horizontally and slid onto the ground as opposed to falling straight down. He did hit the ground face first so he got a pretty big scratch on the side of his face. Ironically, the scratch went well with his bruce lee costume. It went away almost completely in just a few days - amazing how fast baby skin heals.

I almost dropped our daughter a few weeks ago when I fell asleep holding her.

I was traumatized by dropping Max at his 6-month doctor's appointment. We were waiting for the doctor and he was on the exam table. I turned around for one second to throw away his dirty diaper and he rolled right off the table and splat onto the (hard wooden) floor. The table was really high too. He was very very mad, but fine. And at least we were already at the doctor's office!

I don't have a little one yet, but this is an interesting topic! I don't know if I was dropped when I was little, but I know that a small TV fell on me/ my head, and that my dad accidentally gave me a few conks to the head when he would go under low doorways and forget I was in the backpack.

So, yes, definitely take steps to make sure your baby is safe and doesn't fall, but, that being said, babies are fairly resilient :) I like to think I turned out okay.

1) *I* was dropped when I was 4-months old. At my 4-month checkup, my mom momentarily lifted her hand off my stomach to reach for something and I rolled off the table. I hit the ground and my mom, shocked, fainted. The nurse heard crazy crying and came rushing into the room and I ultimately had to get some x-rays done to see if everything was okay.
2) My husband almost dropped our daughter a few weeks ago. He was holding her and underestimated her ability to squirm. She kicked off his arm and it was 4 seconds of hot-potato...She seriously almost hit the ground. Luckily for everyone my husband caught her. I almost had a heart attack.

I have not dropped Charlie or Olive yet... but I have fallen asleep many times while holding them and doing a late night feeding. My only saving grace is that I always try and hold the baby is such a way that if I fall asleep, they will be safe.

Still, I could easily have dropped them and it is terrifying how easy it is to do so!
