Daycare has a "no fever for 24 hours" rule so we have to take 2 days off work every time she gets sent home. We have a back-up sitter and when we contacted her we told her up front that our greatest need was back-up care in case our son was sick and had to be out of daycare. We also have a contract with a nanny agency to send over a temp nanny if our back-up sitter can't make it or we can't get off work. The nanny service said its really dependent on the on-call nannies - some are totally fine with sick kids, some will take everything BUT the flu, etc. </p> <p>For the most part, our son is just dealing with a virus or the sniffles but has to stay out of daycare until he's gone 24 hours without a fever. He hasn't gotten RSV or the flu or anything yet, knock on wood. I am always very clear with them that he is sick. No one seamed to worried about it. </p> <p>I have also gone over to friends houses when they were all sick to clean up, cook dinner, do the wash. Everyone needs an extra set of hands from time to time. Someone on FB mentioned to me that there are sitters who will come watch sick kids. I'd never heard of that but wondered if any of you have had one. I can't imagine anyone wanting to come into a house with illness, but it is certainly interesting. </p>
