@sunny: wow that's crazy! Also, about the no fly list...isn't there a way to find out the specific no flyer, I mean if it's John Smith....then all the John Smith's of the world can't fly? Or it just makes it really difficult?

I have a fairly common name and recently experienced what is likely to be "teller error" (rather than fraud) on my bank account. I had a small sum of money withdrawn out of my bank account that was done at a branch. The withdrawal slip had the account # written in a different handwriting than the rest of the slip, so the teller probably looked it up and wrote it down.

My husband has a very, very unique name and I once googled him randomly and found his name on a court docket in Michigan. The plaintiff was State Farm (our insurer) and he was the defendant. I was really concerned and called our agent to see if it was really a coincidence that State Farm was suing someone with the same name... and it was... phew!

Have you ever experienced anything strange happening because you had a unique name or very common name?

I feel bad for people who have the same name as someone on the no fly list! :-(
