It was always kind of funny - something you totally expected out of that dorm. I am a wedding photographer and we were doing portraits with the bride and groom and wedding party on a rooftop downtown. We were stuck for about 45 minutes with the bride and groom and a few wedding party members, we were not over the weight limit. The bride totally lost her cool, it was scary. But we made it to the ceremony just in time. Luckily, it wasn't too long. Less than 10 minutes, maybe? They just had to reset something. It happened frequently in our building, but since I lived on a high floor, I always took the elevator. </p> <p>My husband once got stuck in an elevator for a seriously long time. The fire department was there and he eventually crawled out a small space at the top because it was between floors. Yes, twice! My advice is pee before you have to get on an elevator and if you see it's packed, don't get on.<br /> Both of mine were pretty bad!<br /> 1) DH and I were at a luxury all inclusive in cancun. The elevator up to the rooms is glass and on the outside of the building. It started storming badly, water was pouring out of the ceiling of the hotel. DH decided to take the elevator up to our room - bad idea! We were stuck for 2 hours on the outside of a building with no power and all this crazy lighting striking so close! Horrible experience!</p> <p>The second time was at the office, returning from a fire drill so the elevator had 18 people!!! But we were stuck with LO1 in an elevator for 3 hours once when he was around 6 months old. Bad thing was his diaper had already blown out before we got stuck. It was in a cave deep down and he was in a SSC, there was a no food policy in place so nobody had anything to eat or drink. Luckily I was nursing so at least he was fed. When we lived in Vietnam, we had frequent power outages and while the generator would kick back on power to the apartment, it didn't power the elevators. I got stuck for an hour one time. I was with friends, so we just camped out on the floor and had our phones to peruse the internet. </p> <p>But after that I took the stairs most of the time and got into shape as we were on the 12th floor. It started to go up, came back down and the buttons stopped working! We had no cellphone reception and the emergency call didn't work...I ended up partially prying the door open and yelling until someone walked by and called the emergency number for us! Thankfully we were "rescued" within about half an hour but it was stressful.<br /> Has anyone else gone through this? What did you do?<br /> Aside: anyone have advice for changing a streak of bad luck??? </p>
