Both times, I had absolutely NO clue. </p> <p>My birthday is in March, so my husband had his cousin send out an evite for a St. Patrick's Day party. She even sent the evite out to all her friends (so I wouldn't notice it was just family), then had to go back and email all her friends to say it was my birthday party and don't show up! I got all dressed up in my green and was ready to go. I opened the door and got covered in silly string...it took me a few minutes to figure out what the heck was going on! </p> <p>For my bridal shower, all along I thought I was planning one of my bridesmaid's baby showers. I made baby-themed cake pops and my mom and I bought baby-themed balloons and stuff. I show up to my friend's mom's house and recognized my college roommates who would have no business being at my friend's baby shower. I got out of the car and everyone yelled surprise. I was really surprised that day. My husband and mom threw me one for my 21st birthday, but I knew that one was coming. </p> <p>I threw my best friend a surprise party for her 16th birthday and my husband one for his 30th. On one hand, I think it would be totally sweet that someone went through all that trouble to surprise me. On the other hand, I'm like you and I hate being the center of attention (my bridal shower was not fun for me at all because all the attention was on me).</p> <p>If DH was planning it, he'd probably end up telling me. Except just as we were leaving for dinner, the answering machine (yes, this was a long time ago) went off and I heard the restaurant calling to confirm our party of 12.</p> <p>I had a surprise bridal shower. That was amazing. I really didn't know and they have a video of me screaming as I walked into my own house with tons of friends waiting inside. I had been arguing with my fiance about how I didn't want to go home yet, but I had wanted to go to some plant sale. It was one of the best experiences of my life--very touching.</p> <p>My ex-fiance surprised me with a big dinner for my 21st birthday (with friends who were mostly his) when I had specifically said I wanted a quiet romantic dinner with just the two of us.
