It shouldn't be too bad and Advil or something like that will control the pain afterwards. I always scheduled the appointment for a Friday so I could heal over the weekend.

I have had 4 teeth extracted while I was under the age of 13. I had lots of extra teeth so they had to extract some. I still have 4 wisdom teeth that I may have removed later. each extraction is different depending on where the tooth is, 3 of them were terrible but with the last one I didnt feel a thing. I did end up having headaches for weeks afterwards.

I've had a wisdom tooth pulled when I was in college, and a baby tooth when I was a kid. Wasn't bad either time :) Some local anesthesia was all I needed.

I've had 9 teeth pulled. My jaw was too small for all the teeth trying to grow in so they were overcrowding. It's really not bad at all. It sucks not to be able to eat though.

It really depends on how your body works whether or not you swell or are sore, etc. When I had my wisdom teeth out I didn't swell and was eating solid food by that night. The numbness was the worst part for me (not being able to feel my face was just kind of weird). Your dentist will likely go out of his or her way to ensure you feel absolutely no pain, so don't worry too much about that. Having a tooth pulled is one of those things for which the build up is way worse than the actual procedure!

I've had 26 teeth pulled :) I've only lost 2 on my own, and has some adult teeth pulled as well.

It's really not that bad. My mom always said I didn't complain about it, as long as she gave me a milk shake I was happy.

Getting a tooth pulled shouldn't hurt too much. Avoid eating on that side, and maybe stock up on easy to eat foods for a day or two.

I had a wisdom tooth pulled last year (it was halfway out but crooked, I think). I didn't swell at all and my dentist didn't even give me any painkillers. I just took ibuprofen. The area was sore but it wasn't too bad. The worst part for me was the shot he had to give me in the roof of my mouth to numb that side of the tooth. Just make sure you have soft foods and nothing too hot. I took the day of off, but I was back at work the next day.

I have! I did not swell and I didnt go to work the next day (but I used any excuse not to go to work) I still went about and went to the movies, I even went out and got a piercing(I was 18 or 19)! However I do recommend just planning on eating soft, easy to swallow without chewing foods. Also, I was prescribed some pain medication.

It really depends on which tooth it is. It might swell if it's one of your molars or wisdom teeth. But some people don't swell at all. Same goes for pain. I had my wisdom teeth pulled about 6 or 7 years ago, and it was painful, and they gave me painkillers. I didn't swell though.

Please tell me it's not that bad. I'm totally freaked out about it! I fractured it and there's no other option except to pull it. I'm not in any pain now (it's had a previous root canal), but how much pain will I be in after? And will it swell? Just curious if I'll be able to work the next day.
